when i sell something, i'll double or triple check my items esp. when i dare to put the item as 'Very Good Condition'. Don't have to look whether the buyer check or no check. seller 100% at fault. no excuse, he have to make a full refund. irresponsible, ignorance..are what i can think of the seller, i hope it's not something worse than these.
Good seller practice is to run through everything with the buyer, i.e. every single thing you can think of that could be wrong, show him on the spot that it is fine when you hand it over to him.
When I sell my camera bodies and bags, for the former, I run through every single contact, show them it's not corroded, take pictures with more than one lens, use different aperture, focus test, playback, blah blah blah. For the latter, I show every zip and compartment and that it is working, and double-check that they are ok with the condition if it is not mint.
This way, in the aftermath when disputes are raised, at least I would know MYSELF that I had already given it to him in good condition. If something new is raised, then we can meet and settle it; assess on the spot if this was a problem when I handed it over, or it has nothing to do with me and everything to do with him. If there are doubts, I'd give the benefit of the doubt.
