Beware of purchasing the following lens


To be honest, I do not think anything further than the original cost of the lens is recoverable.

Unless the contract states any punitive or additional charges that the leasee has to bear in the event of loss, the lessor cannot recover anything more than the cost of the lenses itself.

A criminal charge will, generally speaking, let the culprit face the law. But not recover the cost of the items.

The big question is - are the lenses insured? I'd think the best thing to do is to get a new set of lenses to lease out. All part of business risk, unfortunately.
 

Furthermore, the cost of hiring lawyer also. Feel for you.
