Beware of purchasing the following lens

hmm i doubt anyone will give u invoice or receipt when he is a user himself (not a shop or company selling lens).

O I mean the receipt he got from the shop when he buy the lens. Some minimum proof that he is the original buyer. If he raid a home and took the lens with receipt then bad luck.

seldom keep. and im nt the only one

If don't have receipt, then will do a search on posts etc. Normally more post will feel safer. Little post one normally ignore because paranoid :bsmilie:. Senior member status and frequent in CS one feel more safe. Moderator status then 99% safe hehe.

Haha.. yeah I noticed for Senior Member status or members with sufficient post and "likes" are usually more trusted in BnS :bsmilie:

Same for me. I will also google their phone number or email too to see if there are any bad things about the seller. Have to do the homework first else kenna jialat jialat!

yes! better be safe than sorry. kiasu abit for this case is good :p

Question to the mod. how can a person with so little post count and newly register allow to sell stuffs on B&S?

Perhaps should limit to 100 posts and registered as a member for a period of time before they are allowed to do so?

there is no post count limit to post in Buy/Sell. if you look ard in B/S, you will notice a lot of 1-post wonders registering just to sell.

icic... maybe its time to impose some restriction. just a suggestion.

I had suggested this before if you all remember?

I think it will also work well for Services Wanted forum too to prevent manipulative people and companies coming in to lowball the photo/video industry or hunt aspiring amatuers.

I know some of us said that anyone can just post rubbish to get post counts and it's not going to work.

Someone told the Chinese emperor that the Great Wall despite all it's glory is useless against the barbarian tribes raiding every spring. But the emperor know for fact that without that wall the nomads would be raiding all four seasons and they could ride straight to capital city if they so wished.

At least have some defense better than totally no defense.

Maybe can reconsider?

I agree with sjackal and sinned79.. With people registering and then come in to post 1 or 2 posts to post in BNS seems like a waste of resources..

agreed. should have some min requirements.

Agree too. There is a real need for some quality control in BnS.

Another vote for the 50 or 100 post rule :)

I feel that a 50 or 100 post rule will be unfair for people who are genuinely selling their lenses but have yet to reach the post count. Many people visit CS for the B&S as it is a great channel for trading 2nd hand equipment.

Some members might not be confident enough to post in the forum and newbie who just started out might not even have the knowledge to post and comment. So unless we want the gallery section to have a flood of "good job" and "great shot", I think it should be up to the buyers to be cautious.

It depends on priorities of the forum.

Is the first and foremost priority of CS a 2nd hand market or a discussion forum about photography?

Maybe its a drastic way of putting it this way... but no confident to discuss photography but got confident to Sell on BNS?

You win some, you loss some, can't please everyone. We suggest, Admin decide.

This method is in practice in many forums, and it is actually already in usage right here on CS at the Photography Services Directory and Modelling Services Directory - be a registered member for at least 30 days, and have 50 posts count. The huge advantage is that once a troublemaker is booted by the mod, his resurrection process is 30 days later, instead of immediate rebirth.

If it is not practical within BNS, at least hope that it will be extended to the Services Wanted forum.

You can't deny that CS is a forum with a very active B&S section and it only makes sense that people post their equipment here. More legitimate B&S posts will benefit the members here as well.

As for the phrase "no confident to discuss photography but got confident to Sell on BNS". I believe that post in the other sections will require accuracy of information and knowledge on a specific topic, not every has the confidence to post. I don't see how that is similar to B&S where you just have to make sure that your equipment is working properly.

its not about equipment working properly but to deter scammers or people trying to sell stolen goods (ppl may bought it innocently and get complicated cos it it).

It is buyer's due diligence to check on the condition when they buy something here but not all will do a background check on the credibility of the seller. If Clubsnap can put some control, that will helps certainly.

The buyer can check the condition of the goods but how is he be able to check if this are missing/stolen goods?

Usually it will be safe if there is receipt present. Usually but not 100% it's not stolen

I would usually keep my reciepts, problem is some sellers would say that reciept lost or expired warranty already so definitely if you are a newbie you wont know or check whether the stuff you are buying is a stolen one.

I totally and 110% disagree with this statement....:nono:
