Ok Ok, u are the perfect photographer:angel:, maybe just do not know how to adjust WB and depend on Auto WB. I think it's the digital age fault. Film cams no need to adjust WB.:bsmilie:

BTW, what manual setting on the white balance(WB) did u put on the example in ur 1st post? Do u know what I meant? Can 1000D do a manual adjustment instead of the preset WBs?

His contention is not about how to set WB. His contention is about AWB sucks in 1000D (and some other stuff, read the 1st post).

My PhD is in image processing and I don't think you be in a position to judge my knowledge.

Could you show me the AWB rating of Sony on dpreview?

since the ? is directed at me,
i got no option but to reply.

the WB ratings for the 2 cams r from the site u claimed to hv read,

canon n sony

n even if u r the professor,
i will still ? ur ability,
both photography n image processing.

n if WB is important to u,
then ur SSS pic should look something like this,

DSC03169.JPG
[/IMG]

of cos, not being there,
i can only assume the colours.
took my cue from the white plastic chair at mid left.

all the best to ur course,
its real handy.

i did,
n based on an acceptable pic that he posted,
though its meant to showcase his rock steady hand,
or super steady cam,
the sony's AWB is as good as canon's, or as bad.
which makes me feel his thread is totally biased.

The statement was not directed at you...

For shutter speed of 1/2s? He does have a steady hand. At least, more steady than mine.

the sony's AWB is as good as canon's, or as bad.

True... Though, when I was using A350, I rarely plays with its WB configuration. I used it mostly in AWB.

which makes me feel his thread is totally biased.

This is irrelevant. Maybe he is biased, maybe he is not. The important thing is, did we all say what we said, based on facts or knowledge of what we know?

As for any equipment/gear, I think, some of the poster here had said it. We should try to understand the equipment we have by knowing its capabilities and weaknesses. We should exploit its capabilities and avoid or workaround its weaknesses. That is the universal advice I got from seniors.

Just be happy with whatever brand of camera you have and keep shooting and learning ... just don't be one of those who hang their cameras around their necks down at Orchard Road just to show off and shoot ****.

agree with you. well the most basic thing is, to LOVE your camera.

actually if the user is lousy, any camera u give hime/ her is also lousy. its not the brand or model, it s the user's ability to manipulate the camera to give him what he/she wants in a picture. u can have a FF camera and still **** up and end up blaming the camera if u cant master it.

Errrrrrrr, I'm using Auto WB on my A700 most of the time (99% ?). I do calibrate my monitor frequently.

And yeah, I too love my 2.5 years old camera.:heart::heart::heart::D

Good effort..a picture speaks a thousand words. Hope TS understand what is WB now.:) No pt comparing AWB as no camera would be able to be consistent in different light temperature. Either shoot RAW, adjust later or do a simple WB test on the spot b4 shooting.
I think most of us is trying to help.

That is not 100% true.

Most of my shots are in AWB, and (these days) I use JPEG a lot more than the past.
