Actually, this thread pops up as the most recent thread at a glance when ppl are at the main forum page. So ppl from other camps will come in and 'make noise' if they see their brand/model being 'bashed' in the thread title.
I also kapo come in, even though I don't use either brands mentioned.
TS, though I understand your pain, but a lot of it has to do with your poor research before jumping systems. A lot of your problems arise from poor usage and unrealistic expectations as well.
1. Poor AWB - though it has improved on all brands, there are still problems and it may never be so intelligent. Always check (at least for the 1st few shots) the review screen to make sure everything is as expected. There is no need to check every shot, but at least a few shots now and then will save you the pain. Even with a 5D mkII, if the user forgot and WB was set to Tungsten in a Daylight situation, its screwed as well.
2. Camera shake and shake reduction - This is no replacement for proper technique and expectations. Brace yourself and find support if you are w/o a tripod.
3. Prices of lenses - research properly. The Price Guides are right here in CS. Basing prices based on a 50/1.8 is a risky business.
