I am planning a visit to the zoo soon so I am curious what you would recommend for a visit to the Singapore Zoo? My initial consideration is the 70-200 f2.8 L IS USM. Is that long enough for some of the enclosures?

70 - 200mm would be sufficient for your needs.
For headshots and tighter framing, go for something around 300mm.

Enjoy your outing!

Are you using FF or crop body?

I'm going soon too... me also using 70-200 on a crop body.

100-400?

70-200 doesn't seem enough on full frame camera

Then bo bian, if want headshot then 70-200mm set to 200mm + crop body + crop picture loh...

Rent 100-400mm L… suggest with tripod collar and monopod too…

How about bigma: 50-500mm? Should be sufficient... for ample lighting.

I'm a constant visitor to Singapore Zoo, at least once per year
I bring my Tamron 18-250, since I found my 70-200 f4 not long enough

70-200 for Bird Park is OK. I don't think it is long enought for the zoo. How about Sigma 150-500?

18-55.... but must climb inside enclosure.

just use 70-200 with a cheap kenko 2x teleconvertor around $250 in major shop, it will boost your range to 140-400.

still not enough @400mm, then crop your pictures at computer again. no hourse run using this method.

i just went last sat. Using crop body + 70-200.

1st time bring camera to the zoo test shot.

Think will use my 550D + 70-200mm. Intend to get extender, either 1.4X iii or 2.0X iii but not now, need to save up first.

Not bad shots from Sonikbyte! But maybe you should differentiate the names, e.g. Golden monkey or yellow top monkey etc. Not just a generic monkey. Learn to take note of the names too.
