As of today, May 2005, $1300 will be less than a second hand S2pro, fetching about $1400.

I suppose the S3 at the S2 entry price of $2800 will be pretty good value for money, but ~$3500 is really too high. You can get almost get 2 D70 with $3500!

of cos D2X can do much more. u're paying a premium for it. if it can't y bother with the high price tag?

S3 is 'collecting dust(ur little implication and imagination)' simply because it is priced too highly for a camera of its 'limited capabilities', if u can call it that.
