Need your recommendations on the best compact camera at $300 and where to get it.

What I need is basically decent images and with optical stabilizer (or similar ability). Wide angle would be a bonus I'd love!!!

Thanks for ur views in advance!

With the budget, you can probably look at canon, fujifilm or nikon.

Try canon E1. Small and light with wide angle. Digic4 processor too.

Tks gymak90... Looking into it...

Also, the Samsung L210 and FX150 caught my attention... Any idea on their pricing? Maybe if slightly higher than 300, I can try talk to my boss about it.. The camera would be paid by my company :p

$300 can get alot of choice actually

Sony W120 (recommended by some forummer)
Fujifilm J150W
Samsung L210
Pana FS3

forget abt Canon.... their stuff not so cheap...... cheapest is $399

yup Canon may not be that cheap but the xtra dollars is worth it.
Panasonic worth considering too.....but dun think u can get much out of a $300 camera though.
i had a Powershot last time cost bout $499 but it never failed me in every situation(as far as i can remember) even in low-light conditions. mayb the A470..REALLY DUN LIKE THE LIKES OF the E1. Canon choices: Ixus 80 IS, Powershots A470, A1000IS.

Ah thanks guys... Would look into these cameras God Willing... Anyway, you guys think the coming sitex would be the place to get a camera or any other better shops?

oh yes... forgot abt the powershot series. those are really cheap and functional to get, except for the size/weight...

The Powershot E1 is the first exception to this...small, pretty light and very sleek. Some will find it a bit too kiddy, but I think it's quite chic and something that the younger users and ladies will like.

Hi, I thought the widest E1 can go is 35mm?

See my review on the Canon E1 in the Canon section.
Good buy for around 290 street.

Ricoh R6 at $299 ..but it quite an old model tho...

Then i guess only Ricoh R6 loh, is it still selling at SingPost?

saw it at Best ...come with 4gbSD, scn protector, cleaning kit n mini tripod blah...oya with caplio Bino too...

I agreed with emirates..
What u pay and what u'll get..
I recomended Ixus 80IS if you wan to choose Canon.. (jus my suggestion)
But the choice is up to you which camera you like..

The TS said wide angle is a bonus to have.

I don't find 35mm too constricting.
Currently, unless you get a panasonic, which gives 24mm, the rest of the cameras are offering 28mm as wide angle. Frankly 28mm isn't really different from 35mm. Only marginally wider.

It's a good choice. I used to have 1. Image stabilizer is good, useful. My friends were all amazed tat it has 7x optical zoom packed into the body, on top of it, starts from 28mm, image quality is decent.
