(49) Blowing bubbles
(shot date: 5 Mar, post date: 10 Mar)
(Canon 30D, 50mm, f1.8, 1/640 sec, ISO 100)
NB: I replaced this photo on Flickr after I got a comment of "toomuch" on the left-hand bubble. I think it was referring
to the colours, which looked overdone. While they were not, in fact, over-saturated (strictly speaking), I do agree - on
taking a second-look - that it appeared that way. When processing this photo in Photoshop, I did a master desaturation,
then masked back the effect on the two bubbles (to regain the original vibrancy) and my son's skin (to regain a more
natural skin tone). With hindsight, the colours around the circumference of the bubbles did look a bit alien! So, the photo
linked now has a more "realistic" look.

(iPhone camera - EXIF no idea!?)
For curiosity, this entire post was composed in my iPhone's browser, including manual entry of the HTML codes for formatting and image insertion and hyperlinking. I'm disproportionately proud of this mini acheivement!
Lastly, tomorrow (Tuesday) marks what should be the last day of renovations at my place. Come evening, we should be able to move back home. Hooray! This means, among other things, that I'll be able to get back into a comfortable photographic environment in terms of downloading pics to my PC and sharing them. Can't wait
And lastly lastly, tomorrow is my eldest son's 5th birthday. Happy birthday, Keith!
(53) An expectation gap in the cup (iPHONE SERIES)
(shot date: 22 Mar, post date: 22 Mar)
(iPhone camera - EXIF no idea!?)
This photo and, I guess, the title, needs a lil' bit of explanation as it's not much to shout about, photographically speaking. So, I was making a latte for my wife to take out with her tonight. I managed to pour what I thought was a pretty okay-looking rosetta pattern. In fact quite a nice one! Then my son - all of 5 years old - saunters into the kitchen, takes a quick, cursory glance at my efforts and proclaims: "...[audible sigh]but papa, I wanted you to make an Optimus Prime picture on the top..."
Erm gee...! What can you say to that??
Now THAT'S what I meant by "expectation gap." A yawning gap at that
In the end he settled for a very amateurish pencil drawing of Optimus Prime, a story from the Peter Rabbit book and a bunch of bedtime songs

It sure feels good to be posting pics here again. I've suffered a bit of a dry-spell of late,
due to home renovations, followed by a bit of sickness (still trying to throw off an awful flu).
Still, onwards and upwards.
