Look abit dark to me.. could it be my monitor..

I don't know what is wrong...I seemed to be lost in all those auto level, auto contrast and auto color. Sometimes after using them....I found the photos no longer look original. U take a look on this one...the sky went purple :embrass:

There is really no definitive answer/standard in photography.....

Looks ok on mine ... but the pic seems oversharpened, and the building is a bit small such that the pic doesn't seem to have a primary subject

This pic is nice, but did u use the sharpen filter on PS? What are your settings? It seems oversharpened too

I usually avoid all the auto stuff. Instead, I adjust the curves manually until I get the effect I like ;)

Thanks Wiz/Soma, I was trying out the 14mm lor....as you know, I can't zoom in/out as I used to(with the 18-70DX). Just snap and see any defects in the lens.

As for the 2nd pic, I did it in PS...but I dun think I used sharpen filter....maybe I did in NC4. I got a habit of touching up in NC4 then again in PS for auto level, auto contrast and then decide to blur or sharpen it. As in this photo....I think I forgot wat I did liao

I'm also not very good at photo editing, so I usually just stick to PS ... I'll do minimal adjustments, just modify curves to my liking, resize the pic, then apply unsharp mask :)

I find that everytime I edit the pic, the quality is degraded. I guess this is true for jpeg files

yes repeated edits of the same jpeg will degrade it a lot. i would suggest saving the original jpeg as psd and work from there. make use of layers and adjustment layers if you are trying out some edits or effect. use layer groups to see which end product you prefer. if you are going to do resizing, make sure to save the psd and if possible a backup of the psd. i usually resize and save the resulting jpeg, but i dont save the resized change back to the psd.

Thanks for the advice!

Colours is nice, composition not really... seems also that it's suffering from JPEG compression?

yea too much empty space on the left

Thanks Guys for the advise

Went back to my parents place, couldn't sleep at night...so strolled around the surrounding streets and took some night shots.

To my surprise, something appeared on my photos(2).
The rest all look fine to me...except the same spot on two of the photos. :what:

Midnight.jpg

It was taken with D70 + 14mm f/2.8. Setting: F/11 30 sec ISO 200 Manual mode. Multi

Not exactly sure it is ghosting or flare ley.... Coz I tried a few more photos....only two photos of the same spots got that 'ghosting' niah.

Let me show you another one I tried out....no ghosting on this one.
Taken a few streets away.....at 10sec

I think the lampposts in this shot are at different angles. There was one lamppost in the first shot shining directly in your lens, hence ghosting was evident bah ... :dunno:

Check your other shot with the ghosting, did it have a lamppost shining directly at your lens?

Thanks Wiz, If want to get rid of ghosting...what should I do? :embrass:
I checked both shots liao....they are both directly in front of the lamp post. Think the exposure time were 10 sec and 30 sec. Once auto constrast done, the ghost like figure appeared on both photos.
