Hi guys,

I'll be making a trip to Beijing early June. I'm wondering about a few things.

1) Any places must die-die go to take photos? I guess I'm talking about places/things/situations outside of the obvious like Forbidden City, Great Wall etc.

2) Is photographic equipment cheaper there?

3) Which reputable places to go to so as to avoid being conned in terms of price and grey equipment

Cheers!

Grey equipment is without warranty card, just make sure the warranty card is there :)

And just shoot everything! ;p

die die must shoot great wall.

I like Summer Palace 颐和园 and Temple of Heaven 天坛!

Agreed! I suggest going to the more remote (and less crowded) parts, such as Simatai or Jinshanling. Last time I was at Simatai I was the only foreigner at the upper section. Next would be Mutianyu section. Didn't like Badaling and Juyongguan section as too touristy, altough you cannot avoid Chinese touts no matter which one you go to (unless you traverse the Wall and go to super-remote and probably dangerous sections)...

Thanks all for you replies.

Hi to Obrag! Long time no see. :-)

I'm on a VERY structured trip (obrag, I'm sure you know why :) ) so I'm very much constrained by the itinerary, besides doing my other duties. ;p

So does anybody have names of photography shops there that's reputable? And incidently, does anyone know how much cheaper, say a Nikon 17-35 or 12-24 cost there?
