Beijing - Where to shoot

Will be staying in Marco Polo hotel in chao Yang.

Located just inside the North 5th ring road. Looks like the hotel is not located near a subway stn.
Need to learn how to take bus, else cab.
Allow time to move around as certain hours the public transport is packed.

Try to find the bus that pass your hotel here... http://beijing.8684.cn

great wall....it should be super cold there.

Will be going to Beijing end of this month on package tour. Would like to take the opportunity to take some night scenes, night cityscape and if time allowed sun rise shots. Tour agent has not confirmed which hotel we will be staying.

Any suggestions on this will be much appreciated.

Now more reason to go out and wonder around the hotel to take some wintery night scenes :)

Went to Great Wall today, did the Juyongguan, there are 6 stages (guard posts) and I am the only one in the whole group (47 ppl) that went all the way to the last stage, fairly steep but the view was quite nice, because it was steep the great wall was rather narrow.

i would suggest go to Gui Street 簋街 in the night to try out the best food in Beijing :)

And not the standard touristy BaDaLing section. Mutianyu is much better. But if want to see the RAW Great wall, JianKou, Simatai are the place to go.

Some Resources on walking the Great wall

Thanks for the info, I have been to the touristy part before. Just the other day, I saw a programme on tv that shows some backpackers venturing to the "untouched" parts of the great wall.

To me, the ruins are even more beautiful than the restored parts
