Archives in tapeless is good, but do bare in mind that once these footage goes into compressed format, there's no returning to uncompressed video in the broadcast environment.
I've work in a tapeless environment for archived footage and the hassle is in finding shots that you need. Unless footage are properly timecode logged, it's in fact more waste of time ingesting or importing the whole file (eg. 60mins of camera tape) from server to your working media drives.
The time it takes me to transfer (download) the archived tape is even longer than for me to pop a tape into my machine, spool and search for my footage and capture what I only need.
Of course, if given that the exact footage that you require is properly logged, you can always choose to transfer only the footage that you need.
Then again, if your working formats are in uncompressed 4:2:2 resolution, grabbing the archived footage in MXF compressed format means losing some precious resolution and this is definitely not acceptable for high end video post.....but there's always a compromise.
Just to share some experience on tapeless post environment.
