:)

Just bought this from eBay for my black EPL3:

Now all I need is a compact tripod. Any suggestions? :D

currently using a velbon ultrek, but I change the ballhead to a better sirui G10. It's good enough for m43 setup, previously was using Sirui T1005X, was excellent, but a little to long to hide inside my working bag...

I'll answer my own question.... just the 8gb SDHC card.

Just bought the silver one for $90x from my regular dealer.
As usual, Olympus Singapore brought in the most popular colour in the least quantity. Silver will be very hard to find if don't hurry. The silver set looks the best. The finish of the white one looks like that of the XZ1. So far the best looking white sets are those of the GF2 which has a luxurious metallic pearly white finish.

The silver E-PL3 has a transparent laminate and does not attract fingerprints like the EP3 no matter how much you use it.

Buy! Buy! Buy! ;)
Unker, E-PM1 next? :bsmilie:

It doesn't really look so shiny in real life. It just looked that shiny in the photo because I had used flash to take that shot. It would probably look even better once it's seasoned a bit with use. :)

Oic, I think tomcat has one of this, I haven't use this before. I do have a gorillapod for compactness.
Yes, I got one when I bought one of the Manfrotto camera bags which came with a special slot to keep the mini foldable tripod.

How is the mini tripod like? I'm thinking of getting one for the EPL3 for social occasions when I don't want to drag a full-sized tripod around.

Quick question for those who have used the EPL3, which battery does the camera use? Is it the Olympus BLS1 or BLS5?

I don't think something like that can replace a full-sized tripod. I am using it so that I can place the camera tilted at an angle on a flat surface like in those shots I posted. The main advantage is that it folds flat and small and can be kept easily in a camera bag.

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to get the EPL3 after using my friend's EPL2 and it was so fun using it!

But as a female, i would like to know if the EPL3 is lighter and more portable than the EPL2? Is there a weight difference between the white and silver colour?

Im planning to use the zoom lens instead of the pancake lens. Dont feel comfortable without the zooming function

I can't remember the weight diff, but I believe the E-PL3 is smaller than the E-PL2 by a little bit, and the weight diff somewhat, can't be felt, its like carry 1 guy's wallet with 10 cards and another guy's wallet with 4 cards, there is a difference on the scale, but would you feel the diff in use is a different story altogether. The weight difference between colours should not be there since its just different colour

Thanks spidey89!

As i thought white colour is plastic material and the silver is made of metal.

Will head down to comex next week!

btw, what kind of lens should i choose? Pancake or the normal zoom lens?

Im not sure why alot like to use pancake coz cannot use zoom and only advantage is slimmer?

I have no idea what Olympus does for the exterior of the body, but I do know the silver is like, a coating over metal, reason why I know is cause my E-P1 has scratches and its silver hahhaha, and I GUESS, that the white colour on the white PENs are just like, a coat, which probably don't weigh much either way, underneath the white exterior, I believe is still metal, hence the similar weight, gotta keep it consistent as well, can't be 1 body be plastic and the rest metal hahahha

As to which lens to choose, its a very personal thing, many use pancake because, as you've said, its slimmer, as well as being brighter hence faster, cannot zoom is not exactly saying a limitation, it helps the person learn the limits, like if you want to shoot without looking, how would the 20mm look like? its compression, its distortion bla bla bla, the more you shoot with a fixed focal length, the more you'll know about it, plus it trains your legs hahahah (a bit lame la) because it forces the person to walk, some prefer zoom as a coverage of different focal length

But as i've said, its personal, I'm still using my 17mm pancake because there are no bright zooms available yet, as well as the fact I pack my E-P1 in a place where there is not much space for zoom lens so I'm stuck with my pancake, and honestly... I still have no use for a zoom lens on my PEN except when I'm shooting video, which is hardly these days, so my only advice is to decide for yourself, both lenses are great, but which suits you more is another question, personally, if you're the type that just shoot for fun, probably the zoom lens will suit you just fine
