Imagine carry 2 bodies + 2 grips + lens + flash + extra lens + batteries while running around shooting events.. so no grip for me unless I wanna look more "Pro" infront of others.

it's neccessary for me to attach the wrist strap to. otherwise get pain in neck syndrome.

Used it only when taking event photos, not when traveling.

but is it necessary for normal walkaround shootings?

Just got my 50mm F1.4 now I shot portraits a lot and also help on weight balance.

battery grip's like a drug man. It has stayed 100% of the time on my camera. Vertical shoots are now a breeze. :)

and c'mon guys, the grip weighs only a kg more or so, it's time to lift up that camera and bulk up for your respective partners!! hahaha.

I personally held a 5D + grip + 100-400mm + flash for 2 days straight. Similar to the tennis elbow, I had a 'photographer's wrist' after that. It hurt like crap for a more than a week. >_<

but yea, definitely grip for me. :)

what battery grip?:think::bsmilie:
its a grip for easier vertical shootings. :D
Haha, he's joking la. Of course he knows what's a battery grip. What he's trying to imply is that he doesn't bother about the batt grip ;p
yup correct!;)

but im still 50/50 if i should get one. will it help with 70-200 2.8 attached?

should i buy one for my 40D?

I think the answer to both questions is not a plain yes or no. Have you observed a balance of answers from both sides - there are those who swear by using a grip and those who likewise, will never use a grip.

It boils down to needs. If you have been living without one right now, you probably don't need one and of course, the money can be spent somewhere else, like on a better lens or something.

Bear in mind that the weight of the 70-200 2.8 is very heavy so even with battery grip attached make sure you can handle the overall weight. I tried the exact lens for a while with a grip attached and i noticed that my pressure on the right grip(shutter release button hand) was much more to balance the whole thing, and this partly distracted me from shooting :D

I think it a must for me as my hand is big if no battery grip feel very uncomfortable

you mean, it doesnt help at all when adding grip to balance the 70-200/2.8?

It does help, the point here is not whether the grip helps or not(at least what im saying) but that When you're equipped with the 70-200, the overall weight rather than ergonomics will be more of an issue because it's quite heavy(1.3kg + 1kg+ for eos + 200gms grip).Make sure u can handle it. This's my 2 cent after trying the exact lens :D

For my 350D, it is a essential item.

No grip for me... too heavy for my wrist.

grip is a must for me, except when i really don't have space for it.

I hate my 300D without the grip.
Didn't want to buy a new grip for my 40D but eventually succumbed when I found out I could get a 3rd party Phottix grip from HK for less than half the price of the original Canon part. It arrived within a week of ordering, feels quite good; better than I expected and works fine on my 40D.

For me yes....extra power, hmm...i rather attach on all the time..waste time taking in n out...btw mine is 450D

Does anyone uses batt grip with only 1 batt to cut weight?
