i enjoyed these sets of pictures.

Been going to bali very often for a short break

What attracted me to this thread is not just the photo but also the travelogue.

Some of the photos had captured the beauty of Bali perfectly including the culture plus the sights and at times, I can imagine the sounds.

What I really enjoyed most is the capturing of the group having fun, so well that i feel that I was there with the group and going through what they experience.

Well done guys.

In years to come, I am sure these photos will always bring a smile to your face. Memories immortalised in the photos.

Once again, well done everyone. I enjoyed this thread a lots.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
AlexK, I enjoyed posting the photos and making fun of everyone else as much as you have (hopefully) enjoyed reading them.
Thank you for your encouragement, as always!

burboy, many thanks for appreciating our photos. I say this on behalf of every one of my wonderful team members!

Hello Quadrifolio, why thank you!
I think you have hit the nail on the head when you said "... the group having fun...".
Yupe. We sure had fun.
And you are absolutely right about the memories part.
I personally believe that the power of photography is in documenting Life and Love, and retaining everything in memories for all to cherish in years to come.
I am sure you have made our days with your kind comments here.

All the comments on the photos/travelogues have been already documented and I need not say more! However, I must say that I am drawn and attracted by the warmness, fun and joy depicted all over. Thank you for the sharing and pleasures.

Many different emotions were captured and it is what makes such trips so beautiful.
This is what it means by a group of people who share the same passion gather together.

thanks limwhow

i plan to travel there, so these routes do come in handy for my trip planning

And thanks to you too, on behalf of all my team members.
They are definitely passionate photographers, all these good guys and girls!

AIYOH!

You are So Lucky!
She is indeed a most pretty specimen of the Balinese homo sapien.
The way she closes her eyes and lifts up her hands in prayer....
My, you do have an eye for pretty young things, don't you, Adrian?

EDIT: To my horror, I just discovered - BUT she is already taken!!! Look at the ring on her left ring finger!

That guy on her right is her husband....that's why.

Look at the rings and the watches they wear, sama sama.

:bheart:

I am leaving for Bali soon. Can advise what lens would be useful to bring?

Dear shelomoh,
I am visiting Bali in early Nov for 5 days and yet to determine my iternary. There're too many places to see. Able to share what're the places you are visiting?

Dear All
I would like to know what lens to bring for the trip? I am using a D90 and bringing 18-105mm kit lens + a WUA len (nikon 10-24mm?) + nd110(sun rise/set) + tripod. WUA len will be on loan.

Do i need a external flash?

Thanks

Hello Gentlemen.
Indeed, there are too many places in Bali for us to complete in one trip.
Lots of wide angle shots would be expected. Thus whatever UWA lenses you have: 16-35mm, 17-40mm for FF bodies; or 11-16mm, 10-22mm for cropped bodies, would be good.
In addtion, lots of opportunities for portraiture shots of the lovely local children and people. Thus a telezoom lens that can give you the reach would be great - 18-200mm, 70-200mm.

We need not use flash.
Hope that helps.

I am leaving this week actually.

This is my current plan actually but not confirmed yet. As I am first time there, so need all your precious advise.

I am using D300 (cropped sensor), still deciding to rent another FF body or not. The lens I plan to bring are:
- Tokina 11-16 f/2.8
- Nikon 17-55 f/2.8
- Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VR2

I have the 18-200 VR but ... it's versatile but that's all about it. Since it's a trip to take photos, I am not bringing it. I have a French professional photographer friend who once told me, to bring your best/relevant equipment because some places, you might not get to go again. So you won't feel regretful afterward if there is a shot you know you just got to take but can't because you left some equipment at home.

I do have primes like 30mm, 50mm and 85mm and 10.5mm Fisheye. But I am not bringing all of them.

Accessories include:
- GND filter
- ND4 filter
- CPL filter
- Wireless/wired remote trigger
- Poncho
- Charger
- Extra CF
- Extra batt.
- Portable photo storage
- Laptop ?????? (haven't decide yet)
- Tripod
- SB900 ?????? (do I need this???)
- Flash trigger/umbrella/diffuser/... (only if I am bringing external flash)

Kuta area
----------
- Karma Kandara (cliff and sea side) > 11-16, GND, tripod should be enough.
- Ulu Watu temple (monkeys and other usual temple stuff) > 11-16, 17-55 and maybe close up of monuments using 70-200
- Jimbaran Beach (sea culture and beach) > 11-16, GND, ND4, tripod should be enough.
- Tanah Lot (sunset, rock formation and temple) > 11-16, 17-55... actually depends on the distance, GND, tripod
- Seminyak beach > 11-16, GND, tripod should be enough.
- Legian beach > 11-16, GND, tripod should be enough.

Sanur area
-----------
- Sanur beach (sunrise) > 11-16, GND, tripod

Klungkung area
--------------
- Kusamba (fishing village, culture) > 11-16, 17-55, tripod

Ubud area
----------
- Tegallalang (rice terrace, culture) > tripod, 11-16, 17-55 and 70-200
- Ubud Market (culture) > 17-55
- Ubud Palace (culture) > 11-16, 17-55

Gianyar area
------------
- Goa Gajah (elephant cave) > 11-16, 17-55, external flash???, tripod???

Kintamani area
--------------
- Lake Batur (lake) > 11-16, ND4, tripod???

Tampaksiring area
-----------------
- Tirta Empul temple (common bath area, small waterfall) > ND4, tripod, 70-200 for sniping, 17-55 for up close and personal

These three lenses are more than enough to cover all the subject needs.
And don't think twice about getting a second body. You will certainly need it.
One body on the wide angle, the other body on the telezoom, and you're set to go.

Accessories include:
- GND filter
- ND4 filter

Laptop - I always bring them. Important for reviewing photos at night in the hotel.
I brought three flashes this time. But didn't once touch any of them.
So it really depends on you.

Yupe, I agree with what you have listed.
Only one more point to add about Kusamba - get your second body with a 70-200 mounted on it because you will see lots of locals in action and it's really good for shooting the wonderful people's portraiture zooming in.
Hope this helps.
