"Bad Ergonomics"

hmm... agrees that it will never end.

its all based on a person's perspective.

like mine, i own a a55, i love it for its light weight, cheap priced and feature packed.
but if your basing off on ergonomics wise i do not find a55 anywhere on top of the charts.
reasons mostly
1) being the oddness of switching shutter speed in manual mode
2) hitting the playback button most of the time when the intend was to switch iso levels

there are more but we are talking about ergonomics here

canon has its own set of issues, so does nikon.
there is no perfect camera in this world.
but given a choice i would have perferred my camera to have ergonomics closer to nikon.
then again i am not a nikon fanboy, but i still love my a55.

do not take others criticism that badly, spend more time in mastering your camera instead and let your photos do the talking instead

i mean c'mon, canon and sony are great cameras. both have pros and cons. but i don't like nikon's color and they way they use sony's sensors. hehehe
recently the launch of the nikon d7000 gots hot pixels on it sensors.

Canon has front dials too, usually right behind the shutter release.

And FYI, having the front and rear dials is also considered GOOD ergonomics because it makes adjusting shutter speed and aperture in manual mode easy.

The placement of the Canon front dial makes me need to bend my finger awkwardly just to adjust. I find it to be a horrible location, compared to under the shutter release, where it's easy and natural for me to adjust values without looking away from the OVF.

well if you get used to it, then it would be a different kind of things. well i say sony really make great cameras this time. they are the only one with SLT. consider their small price tag for such with 10fps burst!

Brand bashing will never end. No one can change people's perceptions.

This thread can go on and on without any intent.

Like many CSers using the Alpha system, everyone have at least have been asked once by their peers or family why never get Canon or Nikon.

At least I know my reasons to spend my hard earned money on the Alpha system.

Switching brands later on only incur a waste of money and time researching and using the system.

I know of peers switching or buying their first camera purely based on recommendation, without actually trying various brands ergonomics and ease of use..

actually alpha system also not bad. i like the a850 with its cz 24-70 setup. its great!

The Alpha is an excellent system. But only people like us who uses one knows.

Just that we cannot tell such truths to other brand users. They usually look down on Sony Alpha systems in bad light.

yes i agree. some people can't just look the goodness that other brands that they are offering. i'm very disappointed in that. sony is really unique in dslr. i feel that they could really turn the table. the NEX and the SLT camera are hot product! i would really recommend nex for girls and SLT for high fps tight budget with new technology

The SLT cameras are perfect for girls too... That articulating LCD and light weight is perfect for camw#oring.

This is really really true. My female friends LOVE my A55, they keep using it for self portraits lol (and the weird thing is, they don let me take photos of them, but they love self portraits :sweat: )

The 1st time they see me flip down the A55's LCD (when they 1st tried to take self pics), they went "OMGGG!!! SO COOOOLL!!"

hehe yep true I was asked not only once but everyone I know in the DSLR (not using Sony) why Sony? even my Brother using Nikon asked me the same also but added in well Sony makes our sensor... anyways I told them I've choose Alpha (A33) coz it's small like my ols E-620 (Oly) and fast AF and added bonus great HD Video for the its price is a huge bang for your bucks. And later on I am loving Monilta lenses also lols they are like Zuiko lenses :bsmilie: may not be as sharp as Zuiko but close to it and the colors :lovegrin:

back to fanboy and ergonomics

For Fanboys out there - let's all try to respect each other's purchases some may not be as rich as other to afford expenssive camera and lenses or like other brands but do we have rights to bash each other? Whats the 1st reason we bought our DSLR? i guess everyne's reason is to take photos and enjoy right? we didn;t bought our cams to show around or show off (I hope not). So please lets respect everyone else choices those in the other camps should be happy that other brands are gaining market share as this will make the big dslr company re-think of thier prices and innovate more w/o competition you'll be rob on broad day light. Look at the history, few years back who can afford DSLR? when Nikon start coming back and eating Canon's share what did canon do? realease the 1st sub 1K DSLR! what did Nikon do? release thier entry level DSLR also almost the same price! So lets all leave the bashing with the camera company and we all enjoy the outcome of thier fight! beside no one pays me to fight/bash other brand... If Sony is payng for my gears I would be happy to bash other brands but sadly not...

Ergonomics : how many times do we need to say this??? Each has its own opinion when it comes to ergonomics to me I like smaller body as I have small hands! like A33 and E620 to me thier size and ergonomics are just nice! Ergonomics is subjective and beside when we talk about ergonomics we need to try it ourself you cant just look at it and say this one has bad ergonomics

I would say so ! :bsmilie: ...my wife's hugging her A55 so tightly, there no way I could get near to it !

We went China with the company and a photog buddy's GF who was suppose to be 'model' suddenly wanted to take up photography ...insisting the BF get her an A55 and nothing else ! :bsmilie:
