My sling bag is starting to hurt my shoulders, especially on days when I bring all my gears out. Not that I have pro gears, but because I'm not strong! Hence, I'm looking into getting a backpack so that the weight can be shared by my other shoulder. :D

Any backpacks out there that allows fairly easy retrieval just by wearing the backpack in front? Backpacks such as the Lowepro MiniTrekker seems like the gears will drop out if u try to open it vertically!

Please share your experience. :D

then u should check out the rovers....

crumplers are out for u since they open from the back

Seem like I'm not the only one having problem with the shoulder. Selling my Lowepro Slingshot 200 because of a sharp pain around the shoulder area.

At the meant time, I think you might want to consider Rover AW2, Compudaypack. The others will more or less like minitrekker so it might not fit your need.

alternatively you can look at the one I am selling ... no need to open up your bag to get the lenses out ...

Yeah bro, carrying all the weight on one side really hurts. And i cant seem to get used to carrying the sling bag on the other shoulder. Slingshot is worse, cant change shoulders!

Thanks for your offer bro, but your bag seems too big for my usage liao. Good stuff, hope u find a good buyer soon. :D

Advantages of the backpack are even weight distribution and better mobility.

The main issue is, of course, of less convenient access to yr equipment.

Shoulder/sling bags allow easy access to equipment, but as you discovered, are a pain on the shoulders.

Can't have the best of both worlds unfortunately. Most backpack users accept the fact that they have to "dismount" the pack to retrieve any items.

You can look at Tenba bags (K2 at Peninsula carries them) which have "easy access" side pockets that allow you easy access to limited items (ie those items which you can fit into these special pockets) but they still can't compare to the accessibility of slings.

or can try Safrotto f7M...looks almost exactly the same as a LowePro Rover AW...

Thanks solarii bro! After checking out Tenba backpack, their QuickAccess sure seems useful! Looks like quite easy to access. Will go check it out at K2. But any rough estimation of prices for the smaller models? :D

And thanks theRBK bro as well. Where can I find these Safrotto bags? The website looks unprofessional and not much details hehe. :D

Rover II AW!

The camera compartment can hold a 80-200f2.8, 18-70, 28-70 f2.8, 50 f1.8 flash unit.

The top compartment can stuff yr other barang barang.

saw it at The Camera Workshop at Peninsular Shopping Centre...like I said, quite similar to Rover AW...didn't check if it has the Rover AW's waterproof cover... and there is a larger version, the f7L :)

Thanks! Sounds good, looks like all I need is head to Peninsula! :D

I would recommend Rover AW series. Using the II version. Used to own a CompuRover but too big for comfort and laptop don't always follow me ard. Rover AW series is slightly warmer thou (ur back might be sweltering) but overall its still one gd backpack

If you need to carry:-
- one set of camera and lens
- extra lens
- one flash
- laptop + some documents
- some small gadgets,

then I'd highly recommend the LowePro CompuDaypack.
