Back from Hong Kong

thanks CS TAN.have been looking at the site and tincheung.com....think it's about 7600 on price.com and 7800+ on tincheung.com. wanted to know if it was cheaper than that upon walk in...
btw..great job on the hong kong camera guide thread..!! Greatly appreciated.

Hk is quite save.n they very helpful.

Agree that HK is very safe. I was there just last month. No problem at all even though I was staying at Yau Ma Tei, which raise an eyebrow among my HK friends when I told them.

Even at Sham Shui Po I don't feel uneasy at all. I saw a Police van right outside the MTR station with a few officers walking around. Of course at that time I didn't know about the lunatic throwing acid.

As for the salespeople in HK camera shops, I have to say  Whether at TST, Mongkok or Sham Shui Po, they are all very helpful and courteous. And most importantly, they don't give you the 'black face' if you ask questions or decide not to buy anything.

Tin Cheung's walk-in price usually is lower so the 7600 should be more of the current street price. In price.com.hk, they do indicated the transaction date and whether it is local set or gray set so the information is pretty clear.

dun try to call them, they wont tell u de price over the phone.go to mongkok..ask price from them~a lot of camera shop over there

I am looking at S90 since I am heading there soon.

Do you all buy gray sets there? Or it doesnt matter?

TIA!

Actually, for Canon digital compact PowerShot, they do (sort of) have international warranty. It is called "Half Year Tourist Warranty". You need to bring the Canon HK warranty card and the receipt and visit Hong Kong Canon Care Centre to exchange the local warranty card into a tourist warranty card. For detail, please refer to Post#3 in my Hong Kong Camera Gears Shopping Guide

As for Canon Care Centre address, it is in Post#21 (page 2) of the same thread.

For gray set, we still have warranty?

For gray sets, the shop warranty will be different from shop to shop. You have to ask how long is their shop warranty at the time of purchase. Some will offer 7 days or 3 months warranty and some will provide 1 year shop warranty.

Shop warranty means when there is something wrong, you will need to send the item back to the shop and they will decide how to get the item repair.

In the case of people bringing them back to SG, it will be a hassle to try to ship it back to the shop in HK to claim warranty.

Personally feel that no point to buy a grey set dc.u won't save a lot.if u r unlucky, means u hav to pay double 4 de camera

since u going to HK,just walk ard Mongkok area,u can compare de price there
