Availability of Nikon D800 in Singapore

maybe they are trying to clear their D700 stocks... if price too close to D800, who's gonna buy off their stocks of D700?
The day they release the D800, they should be prepared that sales of the D700 is going to plummet, so as what Cowseye says, slash the price of the D700 to sell, and then consumers can have a choice of paying more for a newer technology, or paying significantly less for an older model.
yeah, but why slash prices of the older product when you can raise prices of the new product and still clear off the entire inventory of the new product while pushing sales of the old product with a small cut in price like what they are doing now... in any case, that was supposed to be a joke
Not surprising and most likely it is the case, imagine they are still trying to clear off D90 in the last IT Show after the product has been discontinued in Japan since mid last year.

If anyone plans to travel to India sometime later get it from there cause officially (nikon.co.in) its
D800: INR 149,950 (Body only) thats 3,706.66 SGD or 2,927.71 USD and it will be cheaper than the official price in stores for sure

The main issue i think is the delta between local pricing vs overseas pricing. I wonder how Nikon sg arrived at the conclusion that d800 will be worth more to Singaporeans...

I know one which has been there for some time and has good reputation called jjmehta ... Do a google search you would find them easy... Also you can have more shops if you go to Mumbai fort area which has a lot of shops...
jjmehta official price is now Rs.145450 but its on pre-order now...
Man Singapore official price for this camera is at 4488 SGD which is too high... Indian camera prices are almost at par and sometimes cheaper than US prices... Dunno what happened, maybe import duties got modified or Nikon and Canon realized how big a market India is... Almost everyone seems to be carrying a DSLR on vacations now anyway

Don't make any sense buying in spore if you are not making money out of it, hoping to get this beast when I visit US in Sept.

Slash D700 price to take away D800 sale after they invest on D800 new development ? Does it make sense ?
