U might have to, due to GST.

But if I get a foreign friend to buy for me and then claim the GST at the airport, will that save me money?

Is that legal??

You can do that, but he can claim the gst refund inside after immigration...in short he will bring the camera inside... Unless you go with him then you don't have a problem.

Do they really check to see if the physical item is there? All they want is the receipts right? I mean if I am a visitor, I cannot send the item back to my home country by SingPost or check it in one meh? In order to claim GST, must produce the physical item? :dunno:

Yes Bro,

I felt the same too.

I would go for D700. Which cost $3050

It's a great camera for still photo.

If I need to video, then I bring along a small cam recorder.

Air Asia will be able to help. Just buy the cheapest poss ticket u can find to get access into the area after immigration.

Usually yes. So etimes they dun check. But if they happen to check then u must have a very good reason. Usually electronics item they will check.

One of my friend got caught by the custom officer before.

She came to Singapore to get her breast implant and incur GST for the operation.

When returning to her country, she claimed the GST.

And of course, the custom officer asked to check and to be shown what she is claiming.

The rest of the story, you all go guess.

Btw , Guys.

Please go back to the topic and do not off thread.

Thanks.

Just checked at funan today. Still no news to the availability...
