one user already upload to
flickr n posted link. numnunball right. sori if i get name spelling wrong, replying on phone

After reading some reviews..I've decided to give D800 amiss. As it doesn't suit my style of photography :)

Shall wait for a high iso, low MP camera.

Well you got 3 choices - D700, D3s, D4

The D800 at high iso 1600, 3200 has a different shadow noise characteristic than the D4 which needs about 0.66 or 1 stop extra to make it look like a d3s. Mind you these are approximate impression did not have all three cameras to run a side by side look see. Details on back of camera seem to favor the D4 it looks cleaner (more color accurate) and sharper than what I remember of the D3s.

then i suggest keep it to urself for now. it's like consideration to others. i'm getting frustrated not able to get a d800. even without freebie and SRP i'm ok. as long as i can have before our wedding anniversary trip

If you plan to shoot with a new camera on a major trip, it call russian roulette. Tried the D800 today, precise focusing is a must. At 1/40 even at 40mm at 2.8 well lets say I knew it was going to be ugly but boy was it more than expected. Test files look best above 1/160 or higher handheld. Test body is available at Nikon service center.

Ok saw the video. I use the wireless trigger all the time, will try tonight with SB600 and SB900.

Confirmation. No problems with CLS. Triggered SB600 and SB900 together on channel 4, group A and B respectively continuously for 12 shots, about 1 per second with no problems - both flashes fired as expected. Writes fast enough for 36MP, didn't see a need to buffer.

How about if you sellect the medium file size which is 20mp? I know you are not using the most of the camera but 20mp is still huge but not as massive as 36mp.

Friends this is one good advice from jaret , no point too much analyzing the new camera , let just shoot the picture any camera will do. Unless you are really earning big buck from photography. Here some touch ; http://froknowsphoto.com/stopoveranalyzing/

tnx for the tip. i hope vr helps on this. if ever i'll have it, maybe use high iso to compensate shutter speed.

i seriously don understand why people like to say that "i got it(D800) from blablabla and its not far from retail price/ us retailprice"? why not just say the exact amount , why beat around the bush when u want to show ppl you got 1? JUST FREAKING SAY THE PRICE OR DON SAY U GOT 1 BLABLABLA. MAKE PPL THINK THAT U ARE SHOWING OFF AND NO 1 CARES THAT WHETHER U ARE RICH OR NOT, PPL ONLY CARES IF THEY ARE GOING TO GET 1 AT TAT PRICE OR NOT. IF U ARE NOT READY TO SHARE, THEN DON EVEN SHOW PPL THAT U WANNA SHARE

Are you talking about megapixels or megabytes?

The above is already a very good indicator that you don't have to be bothered by the RRP by Nikon SG since the US price is public and you said that you are pissed off by it and other things. Not all shops are taking advantage of the situation and charging full RRP or even more as perceived by many. If nobody steps out to highlight this, there'll be more people willing to pay a premium for a set. Don't think you'd want that do u?

Many do not post prices for obvious reasons. Many shops don't post prices online nor list the prices on their display for the same reasons and sometimes request customers not to tell the whole world of the price.

Chill, why get so uptight?

I'm just wondering when people say buy from US cheaper. If you stay there, yes its cheaper.

If you go there and bring back yourself, yes its cheaper.

But based on the normal circumstances,

1) $2999 x ard 1.27?(credit card, cash exchange) = $3808?
2) Add GST = $4075?
3) If you deliver back, not sure how much it cost.

Those complaining about everyone selling so ex, have you guys really went down to every shop and ask for quotes? Or depend on rumours here?
I believe if you are the seller, if there are people who wants to buy at retail price, you won't sell? You rather sell to those who wants it cheap?

Anyway, I got a quote cheaper than my example above. So, if you are sincere, please show that you are patient and go around asking for quotes. I believe you will get a quote that is cheaper than rumors here.

Anyway, I still believe if there are willing buyers for retail price, sellers will sell it to those first. Want it fast, pay more. Want it cheap, wait.

Relax lah Bro. The price of the d800 will come down. Anyway, people are selfish by nature so don't expect them to tell you too much. If they tell you something, it is just to irk you ........lt is either this or they actually believed the seller and think they got the D800 cheapest in Singapore........:) ............ LOL.

I kinda agree with him. This whole, "I got such an awesome deal, but I can't tell you about it" deal is pretty annoying and is more of posturing than providing any actually valuable input to the forum. If you (The figurative "You", not loboclerk) got one, good for you. Go take some great pictures with it and share with us if you think they are worth sharing. THAT's a productive gesture.

In addition, having a D800 wouldn't improve one's photography skill...so unless you are earning a living through photog and die die need one; then bo bian buy at retail price.
Otherwise, if you are a hobbyist, just wait lor...as others had shared, price will soon come down once there is sufficient supply....

Megapixels... Nikon cameras has 3 options of file size right? As what i read for d800, small file size is 9mp, medium is 20 and large is 36.

I don't think in RAW files can set for 3 files size..

This is what I worries my CF card not enough space.

Yup RAW is only 36mp while JPEG you can adjust the megapixels to small, medium and large.

If you're worried about file size, then try using lossless compressed 14bit RAW rather than uncompressed. It'll shrink from 75mb to 40mb per file.
