Availability of D800E in Singapore

Unless one is planning to do lots of focus peeping on a tripod these manual lenses isn't so much of an everyday lens as versatile as the 24-70

Af in some ways is very much required when using these high resolution cameras

Bro,
It also depends on your focussing skills. For the d800 I feel the lack of a split focusing screen is my current limitation. Image u want to take pic of prince William. His body guards block here block there. Then got crowd. And the prince walking. The af will go haywire.
In the end switch to manual mode faster. As I do have budget constraints. So the 24-70 also become one of the main choice for me. :(

Bro BB, I know exactly what u mean abt the Duke as I had that same focusing probm n most of my photos are focusing at wrong spot.:-(
I saw a nice set 24-70 at Peninsula Shopping going for a bargain so hurry

Dr, I learn my lesson last time when I was taking photo of local VIP. At that time I was using F4 which was quite new at that time. I was given 3 rolls to capture. I took only like 10 shots. Then next to me was one old man. He use contax n manual lens. WAH. I think he finish 1 roll. The idea is to roughly focus, set f8 or f5.6. Then just squeeze trigger. I was like one arm length away only. Fail. I like to set aperture priority n let the body decide the speed while I focus n compose.

Was at Mustafa today

They have stock
D800-S$3999
D800E-S$4415

was not too sure .. as other shops are quoting low but no stock .. Dont know if no stock and quoting price is a gimmick.

But really want to buys ...

Friends ... ny comments on Mustafa pricing??

D800E's pricing is the same than 1 month ago at Mustafa, still okay but I think other places sell it cheaper at $42x0 now.

Your limitations mention sure Makes the 800 system feel rather novice....

The limitation is on the user not the cam bro. Imagine u being caught in a crowded frenzy and hv to hold the cam up high with full arm stretched and snapping away not knowing where you are aimed at

Dr, mine was similar. i was about 1 arm length away. but many heads moving about. so even if continuous...the lens may track the wrong face. and sometimes cannot click. btw..u talking about this lens? :) i happen to pass by 3 weeks ago.

Perhaps you shd join some outings organized and understand the camera and lens better

1 arm length away may pose a challenge for some lenses due to minimal f ocusing distance
Lens tracking the wrong face - I think this approach can be more refined to selective af point selection with af-c enabled

The ability of the camera not firing sometimes as you have described can be found under the af setting menu, user this setting I am guessing you selected the option / ( or defaulted ) to allow the shutter to fire only when af confirmation is obtained...

Yes, that's the shop but a saw a few more around there too. I think B&S can get better price? I got mine from B&S 2 yrs ago from a good CS bro NNB and love it on my D700 then except for the weight.

It's not so much the minimal focusing distance but due to too many movements and using AF-auto the tracking went haywire. Maybe should hv tried with AF-ON button and set Ap to f14 will help:dunno:

Looks like you have a defective d800
Suggest you bring it down to Nikon Ss for a check
