Auntie picks fight with girl despite being given Reserved Seat

It seems like a lot of people are really stressed up these days.
My wife witnessed a different drama on a bus the other day.

There was an old woman sleeping on the bus with her feet on the opposite seat (those seat facing each other) and with shoes on the floor
She's wearing those coffee shop uniform so she must have been very exhausted working all day.

Then a middle-aged woman boarded the bus, the bus was full so she just stood there beside the sleeping old woman
But when middle-aged woman reached her stop, she kicked out one of shoes of the old woman out of the bus. :(

These are the worst kind of people. Either you forgive and forget, but dont go take revenge/something!! If some blur/selfish driver decided to occupy to parking spot by parking in the middle, does it give us the right to scratch their cars/puncture their tyres...

Sick... Two wrongs dont make a right.

It is so sad that we are seen as competing for everything. Are we over crowded? People turn ugly just because of a seat, a car park lot, etc!

I think we need to slow down a little. Never mind if the rich cannot be richer. We want to go back to 2-3 million people not 5-8 million. Let's live in HBD no need EC or the branded names lah

Can have some basic personal guideline (not rules):

1. If die die dun wan to give up, dun take reserved seats

2. If see seniors who wear and appear much younger than they are, then no need give up

3. If see parents with young children, help the parent by offering the seat to children as parents are tiring role

4. If see injured person, give regardless of reserved or not

5. If see pregnant woman, observe first before giving up (they may only be plump but not pregnant, later you malu her).

6. If the other person complains like the aunty in the video, ask the aunty whether her children seems to be avoiding her at times (ok this is kidding one)

This gives new meaning to " Keep calm and carry on"
New version " Keep calm and carry out"

Nolar. Must give!! Better to be malu than to be wrong. In addition, other people may not think that she is plump and may look at why you not giving the seat to her!! Imagine the insecurity of you asking yourself "is she pregnant or just plain fat" and with so many eyes on you, you might as well give...

The young girl got potential, real real good potential....Think she have her fan club now :)

You are perverse alright. Dont have common sense or empathy too. Let market forces decide, first time ever I hear such a crap theory on this. Most probably from a badly brought up student who occupy these reserved seats & never give them up for others.

Yes, to CSers of high education and on high moral ground. My perverse view is that there shouldn’t be reserved seats for “people who need it more’. Because everyone needs the seat just as much. Don't tell me that able-bodied young people are never in need of a seat.

I re-assert my theory that if there’s any one who deserves the seat more, it’s those who pay more. Let market forces decide.

And more importantly, to those who receive a seat from someone who gives it up to you, please express some gratitude. The world doesn’t owe you a seat just because you are senior, pregnant, diabled or pretending to be asleep.

Society is built upon foundations beyond just "who pays more".
QUOTE]

I disagree with this statement. It is altruistic and wishful at best. Because in reality, the world revolves around who pays more. That's the most basic free-market, capitalist principle.

So, those who wish to have a seat, please pay full fare. If that's still enough to guarantee you of a seat, then pay more to take a taxi. If that's still not comfortable enough, pay even more to buy a car. But never pay minimum price and expect oceans to part while you stroll to a seat.

tell your parents to hang on outside behind the train then, when it moves. when taking the bus, they don't step off. a youngster will give them a speedy shove down the steps.

Haha like that jialat, everyday I see many many pregnant women, which happens to be just fat.

Anyway, I rather stand than seat at reserved seat. But even so, I will be wary of people coming in where reserved seats are taken up by those that have priority.

Because in reality, the world revolves around who pays more.

then it must be a very heartless world you wish to live in. one without charity, compassion, morals or manners.
just a world revolving around money. a world in which if you can't pay or afford to pay, don't expect to be cured, or helped in any way.
a world in which everything goes to the highest bidder. everything has a price, everyone can be bought.
a world in which it is better to receive than to give.
all that matters is how much money you have and are willing to pay.

thanks but no thanks. i prefer to live in an imperfect, more compassionate world.

please be reminded not to fart in the bus/train

Wonder why is it not feasible to have a separate carriage for the elderly, needy, pregnant, babies, etc? Going by observation, there is enough of them to fill at least 1/2 to 1 carriage for each ride (I may be wrong in my observation). A separate carriage will definately be more comfortable for them. :dunno:

For the remaining carriages, the ppl can then slug-it-out amongst themselves

I fully agree with you. This is such a simple solution unlike buses. However, I would also like to add that during peak hours, senior citizen, handicap, etc who do not have anything urgent refrain from taking the MRT. This will allow the peak hour crowd to spill over to the 'reserved' carriage since it is quite packed during such hours.

There is no major logistic to do other than some signs. Hope some big shot from the SMRT will read this.

What a stressful country to live in. 😰

Dont argue la .. The trains has so many cabin, let the middle cabin where you exit from the lift and have all seats to be reserved sign where the kids, old ppl and handicap fight for the seats, one cabin in front for the high in moral and educations and the rest for us who have no moral and uneducated barbarian like me to stand in the rest of the cabins.

Quite obviously the auntie is mentally not very sound.
