Pardon my ignorance but isn't there some software that you can use to help you run in your speakers/amps/cd player etc? I hear it cuts down the time considerably when you use it.

i remembered how the hornet sounded on my older phones, but never heard it on my new ones.. those days it was direct purchase from ray sam, are they selling it off the shelf in sg now?
i've this program called biwavegen, not sure what it means but it produces different kinda noises called pink noise or white noise. yup theoretically it does but i've not read anything on it that proves it so i'm sticking to the old fashioned method of plugging it to a player and just let it run =)
i really have no idea man.
my colleague just told me pass him 1k, got spare change he return me.
then after lunch, he got me the hornet already.
i'm really surprised a small gadget like that can drastically(at least, to me) can improve sound.

don't blame me hor! you got your fair share of trying it as well. you're just not tempted to get it. you play big big subs i play small small things =x. i go slp le nights. hope to see this thread grow a lil' bigger in a month's time.
Everything in audio needs running in, especially the transducers and electrolytic capacitors, to age the components a little before the characteristics finally stabilizes.
It's just louder at high gain. ;p
lower impedance phones <40ohms requires less voltage but more current to drive them, so you can set the gain to be lower.
for high impedance phone >120ohms requires more voltaage to drive them, so you'll need a greater gain otherwise everything will be quite soft.
ya.my colleague told me if i really want quality sound, pass him $, after lunch, he came back with the hornet.
no regrets.
Has never thought of using amps before... So just of curiosity.... What was the exact $ for the hornet?

Wait until you run the Hornet after a external DAC on optical cables. That's when you really appreciate the Hornet.
Also, IIRC, the newer Shures doesn't really need to run in due to the drivers design. I didn't feel there was a difference even after burn in.
with cables and ipod adapter, comes to 700.

This one is not for portable setup. More like for desktop setup.
If your laptop or PC has an audio optical out (I'm using a MBP), use an optical cable and connect to a External DAC, such as Firestone Spitfire. Then connect your Hornet to the DAC via RCA -> 1/4". Then your earphones to the amp. Your signal will be cleaner by ALOT.

With the DAC upsampling the digtal signals to say 24/192 then to the hornet :sweat:
