very hard to drive.
takes a very long time of hard hitting to break in.
by user reviews and various peeps in headfi last year, this headphone sounds best with a high power tube amp.
heard the akg 701 before,sounds sweet....

beware AKG and their warranty!! my k81s have been in "repair" for 3 solid months, and i MAY only get it back like next week. which would make the date closer to 4 months actually......
have you tried other headphones in its price range before? maybe some beyers or alessandros?:thumbsup:

seriously, i havent tried.the shure is such a good pair of in ear phones that i just use it for portability.(around the house and office).
i only use the senn with the hornet and man...i really can understand why the hornet is so hyped.i try to be as neutral as possible but when my colleague bought it for me and i told him dont let me know if the hornet is connected or not, i really really could tell the difference...

what's the gain switch for at the back of my hornet?
i notice when i switch to high gain, the music becomes sharper, clearer, and the opposite happens when i switch to low.
and i was told by my colleagues that for my senn, i should switch to medium since my impedence(?) of my senn is about 70 omph?

ya.my colleague told me if i really want quality sound, pass him $, after lunch, he came back with the hornet.
no regrets.
wait for your hornet to burn in for about 600hrs and your shure about 500hrs or more. then you judge it away. i'm gonna find someone to burn in my headphones for me. hahaha.

i was told the same...to run it in.
so i just left the ipod and the hornet running overnight every day.
shure also got to run in one ah?

sorry lost track, which shure you bought?
I juz got myself a sony MDR-NC22, not quite as good as my Creative Zen (Au..whatever). Looking at shure now as see if it's ok.
i bought the se 310, then i bought the se 420.
really can tell the difference between the 2.
somehow, i just cant get over the barrier of buying a ear phones that cost over 600+.
then i bought the sennheiser HD25 II.
i've been using the senn because i dont really like something stuck into my ears.:bsmilie:

Have you go the hornet yet? Can test it between 310 and 420. ;p
I use them when I'm around and about taking photos, so I dun like headphones.

i havent use them on the hornet yet.
my hornet is now with the senn.
get the se530 if you dont mind parting with the cash.
i have to warn you though, when you are with these babies in your ears, you really cant hear what's happening around you.might be kind of dangerous if you are out and about taking pics.
just my 2 cents.
i thought you bought the 530. ohwell. someone burning in his akg k701 for 2 months straight 24hrs a day. and it's not optimised at it's best yet. takes time to appreciate things like this.
if you're going to sell the hornet at cheep cheep price once D3 is out, please feel free to pm me! =D
like i said lor...600+ for a in earphones...piang eh..hard to overcome it since i'm no audiophile.
but to think about it, my 310 and 420 + senn + hornet already....:embrass:
