Personally, might have made the shadows darker to increase the contrast of the background, and throw the foreground into silhouette? But that's subjective. Hope you don't mind, made an edit to show what I meant:

Depending on which photograph you were referring to on the star trails, the exposure time varies from 25s to 60s n can be taken over a duration of 2 to 3 hours. Hope this helps
Finally have some time for another posting... here's one that I took recently in Eldorado, Texas. Very good dark skies!
More to come when I post-process the remaining photos. I somehow cannot get rid of the vignetting. Any advise are welcome.
A night shot in Death Valley National Park. Unfortunately it was a full-moon night and the moonlight masked out the the Milkyway. So I turned to take what ever I could lay my hands on.
