To the point, he was deemed a risk and might kill himself or someone else if he was sent to a bridging unit. Of course he was also no 1 most marked man during the course, getting abused for everything and even nothing by the instructors. However end of course, he was posted to clerical duties and just before he orded, he confided in me that all the time he was bullshitting and acting blur. He just endured the suffering during the course to ensure he will be graded so badly he will post to clerical duties. As he said "look at all the top guys in our course, what are they doing? Building bridge while I am sitting in office..."

It all boils down to the matter of "choice". Whether it was made sanely or insanely, you got to live with it. And sometimes... what seems insane to us, may have seem perfectly logical in his own perception and context.

Whatever it was, he should not have been selfish to the point to pull other people into the hot wok together. If you want to kill yourself, go ahead, don't cause inconvenience to others. Some might disagree with me on this, but I am thinking from the perspective of the "greater good of society". Just something to chew on on a hot sunny monday afternoon...

That is the result of having conscription. You cannot avoid this happening. I would rather they do this, then to be posted to a front-line unit, and in times of war, fail in their duty.

I would gladly serve alongside volunteers anyday... At least I know where their heart is.

That being said... I salute the many batches of NSmen who have faithfully served since the enlistment act came into effect.

That is very true, and I can say that lots of people like that around. High flyers out of army but in the army all are not combat fit for some reason or another. You got to hand it to them that they used their brains or family connections to get out of combat without going through what my coursemate did.
 

Just very curious to know how the police managed to track him down to Cineleisure after 20hrs. And also found out that he was holed up in a hotel in GL.

There was a write up about the police in yesterday's paper, but they stopped short of telling how they did it. Their trade secret? My hats off to them

Many would speculate that they do it by the signal from his HP. I very much doubt so. HP signal could only tell which signal cell, which is a large area, like Orchard Rd, Geylang or AMK, but not pin point you to the exact location.

Now, so what if HP signal could be traced to the nearest 10m or so, then anybody on the run would switch off their phone and only switch on to call and receive call, but off it the rest of the time.

they also had the face recognition procedure to track him down mah..

dont depend on gadgets, go MANUAL like camera. manual settings come out bes :bsmilie:

most probably thru his hp by bugging & monitoring his calls....or
maybe his hp is Nokia 6110 got built-in GPS ...;p

All the glory goes to the Singapore Police Force, what's not mentioned is the other military agency that's involved in the operation.

- ATM card
- Phone (you call or sms--> see that in infernal affairs part 1.)
- Taking bus or mrt...your ezlink card registered with your IC?

As long don't use the above 3...then tracking will be difficult.

Really? time for me to get 1..:bsmilie:..i never buy a ezlink card because it needs an IC..have been using my mother one...:bsmilie:
