Are you willing to pay more to help Nikon?

having seen the respond above, am i right to assume you will stop buying any new nikon product if you feel that the prices is up 10-15% (to make up for profit margin) against current model or against competitor of similar performance/capacity even though you have a need for it. meaning to say you will wait to buy used or switch brand (to 3rd party product or competitor system)? does it make sense (the wait for used can be very long, 3rd party quality n compatibility may be an issue and switch system may end up losing more instead) or wouldnt it be simply better to pay a little more (just treat it as inflation or exchange rate adjustment) and enjoy the new toy?

Has anyone mentioned about switching systems here? Most of us here will choose to wait for the price to drop and nikon will do that if they want to stay competitive.

If you have money to burn, sure, go ahead with the purchase. For me, I'll just wait and do more comparisons before buying anything.

Not for me. Became poor after purchased NIKON products.

Did nikon really mark up the price due to flood or our local merchant see it ISA good time to make more $$

Nope, won't buy. They've got millions or billions from the past profits, why should they put the cost of repairs to consumers? If they do that, I believe a lot of fanboys may become disgruntled.

Nikon just gonna raise the price tag for all their products, I would rather help the flood victims in Thailand.

Can Nikon gives us a warranty that we can fully refund the lens at full value in the event that we kena retrench within 1 year from date of purchase?

This is a real world, any benefits must be win-win, not win-lost. Especially, global supply chain + China Slowdown (Wen Chou and Pearl Bank Delta reported many SME bankrupt) + European debt crisis + Japan Nuclear Crisis (new traces of nuclear contamination found near Chiba) had badly hit this upcoming critical make-or-break Christmas holiday and Chinese new year sale season.

My 1 cent advise is: We have to exercise prudence in the rainy day ahead, spend more time to improve our skills and concept with lightings and scene capture, rather than spend hard earn monies on unnecessary stuff unless u are very sure that your rice bowl is a golden rice bowl.

They are 1st hit in Japan and now in Thailand plant. A lot of money will be needed to restore the plant for production again and with delay in production, these factors will result lower or no profit margin for nikon this FY. Thus if they were to raise their selling price of their product now to recover some of the losses, are you willing to support by buying it now instead of delaying or buy from used source?

Are they willing to help me, a poor fella, to pay less for their D700 so that I can enjoy a FF Body??? :dunno::lovegrin:

This is not a kopitiam section here. So let's keep the banal talk out of here.
