Are You Planning to Sell Your Current Camera in Favour of the Canon 5D MK III?

What are You Planning to Sell (if anything) to Get the Canon 5D MK III?

Oh well, just stick to 5d2 for the moment :)

Don't u think they will upgrade the 1D series before the 5D? After all Nikon came up with the D3 which kills the 1D in terms of high ISO low noise, then the tech flowed down to through the rest of the Nikon series cams. Even their newer cams have better ISO noise control.

After they upgrade the 1D, then the 5D would be the next logical successor as the new tech flows down the series.

Yes, I agree with you. That would make the most logical sense. But one would think that Digic V would be introduced via the Canon 1Ds IV and then flow through the entire camera line as was suggested. Instead, Canon chose to introduce Digic V through far lessor point and shoots.

Perhaps the Canon 5D Mk III will be introduced side by side with the 1Ds Mk IV or the latter will be introduced first followed shortly by the former. Regardless both the 5D MkII and 1Ds Mk III are over 3 years old! IT'S TIME FOR AN UPGRADE! Sorry, didn't mean to shout but I hope Canon heard that.

Yup they are, although I’ll wager Canon doesn’t think 3 years means “time for upgrade”.

Probably the only thing that will make them think that is “Oh Crap N**** and S*** have released new Fullframes! No one will buy our current FFs, MUST RELEASE NEW ONE."

That new DiGic 5 processor (auto white balance features) on the p & shoot makes me feel that 5D mark 2 already outdate, reduce my temptation to get one!

With that in mind, maybe it's time to pull the trigger on the 5D2+24-105 deal from Canada. Anyone interested in a brand new 5D2 body only for S$2500 (Canada/US warranty)? I want the 24-105 but don't need the body.

24-105 L is a good lens... Usable for much circumstances and highly recommended. Some might say a bigger aperture is good while some say the edges are soft at wide angle, but doesn't bother me. Colors are rich at 50mm onwards! Just my 2 cents.

I will go for 5DIII if its price if about S$3.5K.

I will go for 5DIII regardless of the price...BUT I swear I will sell every single canon lens I have and jump to nikon if the 5d III still does not have cross type af points outside of center.

This is one reason why I respect Canon.
They do not push out products when their current ones are still competitive. That will prevent current owners from feeling that they bought technology that is quickly obsolete. I have had my 5D2 since its launch and absolutely love its quality. It has rewarded me over and over again in terms of top quality images despite its inherent focussing issues. Its not a 1Ds model and not bought with expectation of a 1Ds performance.

New camera bodies need to bring out the very best of the expensive lenses that Canon sells but right now, the 5D2 already pushes the very best lenses to its limits. Any higher density sensor will require even better quality glass to be developed by Canon. So the way forward is to embed much of the features of 7D into it. Possibly up the MP count to 28mp but not much more. At that level its already in the realm of Medium Format printing sizes. So, I would be happy if Canon does not release the Mk3 for another six to 12 months. My 5D2 will still keep its market value.

however entry level... 550D came out when 500D was barely launched 6 month ago :x

The entry levels cannot be compared...they are meant to be replaced quickly, else the competition will surpass it.
Also entry level cams are supposed to be changed regularly, so this is the correct product development/lifecycle approach.

i will probably sell my 50D together with 35L or 50L(only intend to keep either of the lens, most likely sell the 35), c'mon Canon announce it already lah, announcing it doesn't necessarily mean you have to release it immediately :)

Ya lor..I just saw 500D posters on bus when I purchased my 500D then suddenly after 1 month 550D was announced and I was like "what duh...." of course that time I was new to photography and naturally I hoped to have a latest model.

Anyway back to the topic, even if I want to sell my body for the new 5DIII, my 500D is going to fetch peanuts...so might as well keep it for casual usage or backup.

Wondering how much a 5D MK III going to cost like?? 3K? Man ... Canon is making BIG BUCKS $$$

Wait for the announcement, then see worth it or not.

BTW, 3K for a new full frame camera will never make big buck. So, Canon will be looking at making GIGANTIC bucks

Just got myself a 5Dii. Couldn't wait! :( However it is a real solid camera and I am really happy to have gotten it! :)

Indeed it is. But stay away from any forms of media when tomorrow comes, cos there might be a new canon dslr launch. May cause you to regret or not, but just to be on the safe side :)
