heh...becareful of traps though, which lots of hifi siao had fallen into it....

scenario -> during audition, the salesman played your preferred equipment, say the NAD C320, then he switched to a better (but more expensive of course.) amp, and OMG! UNFORTUNATELY (or luckily u decide) you could heard the major diff and you are no longer able to live/accept the sound of the NAD C320..... then Oh! oh! Welcome to the Club!!!!!!!!!!! haha........

hope that you are one who is very firm with ur budget!!! haha....

:bsmilie: you're a bad influence...

The NAD C320Bee should be a good choice as it comes down from a lot of revisions since the original C320.

The C352 also evolves from the C350 originally. Both should be a safe choice, just up to your ears and wallet to decide i guess :p

I would still recommend you check out www.norh.com.

tubes and horny looking speakers.. its a great combi.

I thin they have a setup in simlim or adelphi.. . se-9 and norh 4s.

prolly 1.3-1.4k.

cheapest tube amps around.

much more refined than the nads that youre thinking of.

Exactly what happened when i purchased my CD player.

Oh well, now i'm still very happy with it though the lens died and the tray goes haywire now and then, i'm still willing to repair it as the sound quality is excellent!

Audtioned them before.

Somehow i feel they still sound "coloured" in some sense.

Using a pair of Sprit Absolute Zeroes and recently purchase a pair of KRK Systems ST6 for fun ... love both of them dearly now :sweatsm:  .. both sound neutral and punchy.

well still worth a listen if 'colored' in a pleasant way... some ppl love colored sound....... just go listen lah...u know why? you won't know till u listen to the real thing and most impt -------> Coz it is free mah!!!!

Nah .. very happy with my speaker combo already...

Just aiming for a turntable - Technics SL1200 MKII ... :p

if you want good value hi-fi, go to http://www.xaudio.com.sg

they import 2 very good value made in china or Taiwan brands, Xindak and Usheraudio. Service also very friendly.

heh..going over to the dark side? then it will be ragdoll's territory liao.....

laugh...u wanna join the dark side too?

cheers...

well its just me :) and the kind of sound i like.

Im running conrad Johnson tubes with Magnaplanars. yes, Its obviously coloured ,imaging is not sharp, and the bass is a tad lacking..

but the glorious syrupy smooth midrange.. . is to die for.

I listen to a lot of jazz and my ideal setting is a smokey jazz bar feel. so my system is ideal :)

of course if you want a system to rock... well. . .maybe exposure is good for the budget.

go checlk out exposure amps too. they are nice.

Well i guess shows that everyone of us has different listening tastes.

But seriously, i just love the way studio monitors sound.

Everything i throw at it seems to sound so good  lush 99.5 sounds so good that i'm tempted to get a DAB tuner .. but the cost is a killer

If cost is no issue, i'd be headed straight for McIntosh ... love those big blue analogue VU meters...

Hmm threads like these really get me reading

Kinda scary to see forumers having hifi as a hobby as well as photography

The 2 most expensive hobbies i feel

Anyway, entry level amps ... a rotel RA-01 or 02 would suffice with pre-amp outputs for future expansion. For NAD, the C320BEE would be enough as well.

You can also get a HT reciever from Marantz as they make a excellent stereo and HT combo when you need it.

Presently, using a NAD C300 amplifier, a pair of KRK Systems speakers tapped to my main pre / power setup (which is another story :p ) Source is a AMC cd player... the combo is marvellous.

Hoho if you think photography and hifi is ex......try collecting watches....

Watches also got cheap one mah.....like I'm trying to start on Seiko Automatic Diver ----> IHMO, good quality for its relative low price...

camera and hifi also got cheap ones too.

hoho.....I m talking about Panerais, GP, AP, PP, Rolex Daytonas, IWC, Cartier.....not some cheap jap watch, although i wear one myself. Hehe....

Don't forget, look at the size...the smaller they are the more ex. 1.5 carat White D diamond would cost you about $20,000. Just the diamond only, without setting. Then again there are cheap diamonds too.

Aiya actually there are ex and cheap stuffs in the market. It's how deep your pocket is. So it's the DEPTH that matters!

haha...this is a good one.... can sit around and have steamboat and enjoy music at the same time!!! coolz!!!

The CDP is working fine. Think I'll settle with the CDP and my KEF speakers. I will hunt for the amp. I guess the combi should be better than a sony set. Any idea how much the NAD 320BEE is going for?

Since your budget allows.. should consider going for a beefier amp. Audition the 320BEE with the C352 and also C37x to hear the difference. This will also help in case u change to more power hungry speakers in future..

IIRC, the Bose showroom is heavily treated to bring out the best of the system, so it MAY not sound as solid when at home if it is not treated (which is the case for most Bose owner)....

Cheers.......
you got that right.....their old 901s were/are legendary but the lifestyle systems...well...leave a lot to be desired....
trust your ears...and save up some more 9way more) first before committing..that way you won't be on an endless upgrading path..my vote goes to monitor audio for speakers - blows away all the missions, kefs, morduant shorts etc.....but thats my very very humble and biased ears talking ahahahahaha....and dun forget to throw in dough for a M&K sub.....becos, tight base (not the boomy sort) is meant to be felt, not heard!
