What school was it? Can they be privately employed?

australian school, and im still here haha
they got rid of them recently though as the government believed that the threat level of terrorism was low enough that schools no longer required armed guards.

i think a few of the "higher target" schools like the american one and stuff stil have them though... not sure.

Yeah, now the school is guarded by normal policemen. Saw a group of about 5 of them covering the route along CTE even.

Hey tomorrow come Istana entrance lah. I will be there haha. :D

But you will need zooms thou, coz we are sealing off the pedestrian walkways on both sides of Orchard Road when the VVIPS come in, so you gotta shoot from Istana Park. There is a good chance to capture the convoys thou from the park or the roads around the park.
erm, any idea what time it'll be?

Wow...hope to see more...Nice contribution...

Ya lor,I last time also inspired.Thought they were the SEALS of singapore, then realise also not for singaporeans. They are from Nepal right?Or somewhere those area like laos and all that

They are nepal guys, tough and you won't want to dare them to draw their weapon.... :bsmilie:

They even kill blood brothers.
That is what i heard.

Even worse than commando.

Too late. :D Hardly saw any "professional" photographers, just casual photographers who happen to be around when Obama's super-long convoy screamed into the Istana at about 9 plus...if I recall correctly. Basically convoys were streaming in between 830 to about 1030. Unfortunately most of Singapore obviously cherish their sunday morning sleep more than the sight of these cars. ;)

I have pictures of the convoy.. But its the usual NPNT.. Can't post it here.. :nono: Later the ISU come knocking.. But its very very impressive.. when it queues up.

Hah if its taken from the public roads, there is no reason ISD will come after you lah. ;)

That's the privilege journalists get!

Dunno whether can their hat shield them from bullets or anything ... they look tough though.

Maybe!

U dont expect them to wear a party hat instead , and the party blower instead of the mp5 gun.

Well as long as Australia dosen't make too much noise on the international front, there will be a smaller perceived threat to their interests. If Rudd decides to up the ante on terrorism, however, you can be sure the Gurkhas will be back. :D

Are you sure they are "normal policemen"? The normal neighbourhood police do not do "sentry duties" for such installations, and all they do is to past by or visit the place to check that things are ok on a random basis. Where the five you saw in a vehicle or tracking on foot?

Don't think so lah. They may be tough, but they are still human after all and not invincible to a sniper shot.

Their physical body is not invincible but their will is.. once I was outfield and bump into them, really changed my impression of soldiers.. even the kopassus or the royal thai rangers no fight..

You really got to give them credit.. the selected soldiers go through so much to get in and their pride and loyalty is second to none.

Don't worry my respect for them is still top-notch, even thou it is obvious their standards has slipped in the past years, especially amongst the younger ones. Apparently the ills of modernisation and individualism has crept into them as well.
