Did you contact the seller of the 1st lens to ask for an explanation?
I deleted his number, and I'm unable to find his thread....

normally if the haze cannot be noticed under broad day light it should be alright for taking pictures. You have tested and the images are soft?

I haven't tested in broad daylight yet, but i tried shooting at my room lights yesterday and I could tell the difference, a very big difference.

You may want to approach the moderators to unarchive the BnS thread if you know his nick and date. I think BnS threads cannot be deleted. At least should report his dishonesty, or

You can take apart the 2 lenses and assemble the working parts into one lens. All is not lost. Just need a little bit more work.

From what I observed, most MMJ fetches higher prices than the AEJ. So maybe the sub 350 are the latter. Do not dispair. Anyway, most excellent copies are selling around $500. Sometimes when something is available for much less, do be wary.

Kind of sad to find out that the 50 1.4 C/Y I bought from a seller on the forums turned out to be hazing.

Let it go mentally and do not let it frustrate you. It is part of learning process. There are many other good things in your life.

They're both MMJ, and that's exactly what I'm doing now, having the faulty part replaced with the working one. But with that said, as I started out, didn't intend to spend that much on a 50mm.

When I realized that I was using more manual focus than autofocus(due to the nature of my job), i realized that getting a zeiss 50mm and a 85mm cost the same as my 50 1.2L, which I have since decided to sell.

Only wanted it to cover and not overspend, but looks like I couldn't prevent that from happening. =(

Technically I've let go, but it won't be really forgotten until I have a sharp working piece ready to be deployed. It's both out of my hands and at the shop awaiting repairs.

Look at the price of the filter! I had to call the shop to actually refund me the difference from their competitors.

SLR Revo has the best prices for Zeiss filters. Bought the 95mm UV for $360. That's at least $100 off every other local retailers and eBay.

Lucky you to have access to Shanghai-ese beauties.

That's the thing about these older lenses. It is like a raffle. I have my fair share of misses. Good luck with your CY50.

Ms World on again? With Pinay in the folds, Singapore should fare better this time :)

I see the APO Sonnar! Did you do any test shots of Lynn at click! Will wait for your review of the lens.

I think the rest of us are curious if these CZ UV filters are much better than the B+W. While $300+ is only a fraction of the lenses you guys have but is still quite expensive for a piece of UV filter.

I wanted to get the Canon mount, but there was a guy there who just bought it. Got the a Nikon mount instead. Very heavy and the lens is just so sharp wide open. Will be taking it out for a spin soon.

How much is a 77mm Zeiss filter? Can't be anywhere close to $399?!?

$170 in the end. They offered me $280 in the original purchase. You can imagine making an additional trip down and the experience was totally meh. Was told some stock transfer error, etc. Asked to see the other similar filters and was told it was the last one. The receipt said cash, but the new receipt said card. So many questions..... I bought it because I was told that I could mate it with my Nikon D4 as the focusing screen can be changed, but this was not true also. As mentioned, I originally intended to get it for the Canon mount as the 1DX focusing screen can be changed.

Oh well.......

I have been using b+w filters all along. I couldn't find a 95mm one when I got my distagon 15mm so I went for the zeiss uv instead. I have not seen the 95mm from b+w yet but I had the impression that the zeiss has a thinner profile.

I am using a 95mm Contax L39 UV filter for my Contax N17-35. Does the Contax UV filter possess the same quality as the T* CZ filters?

don't know. never seen the contax uv.

I am the guy who bought the 133 f2 Apo Sonnar, the Zeiss filter cost me $180 which is reasonable for a 77mm size. I have a 85 f 1.4 and a 35 f2 which I use in studio model shoot.

I had to soften this photo a lot because the original was just too sharp.
