5DMKIII with Carl Zeiss VS 24-85mm 1/125sec f7.1 Iso 800 @ 68mm

I think you can email the person in charge @ yucheng.leung@shriro.com.sg ;)

I have spoken with him before and he seems friendly. :)

hahah Leung is my personal friend. Just spoke to him after seeing this thread.
He said his account ShriroSG was removed because he was DEEMED to be advertising without paying.
Anyway they are planning a launch for Touit. Stay tuned here for details!

Zeiss announces the new E-mount lenses and names them “Touit”.

"If you are wondering where the heck Zeiss found that name her eis the original Zeiss explanation: “We decided to derive the future names of the lenses from the Latin names of birds. That fits well, as birds usually have excellent eyesight and can take unusual perspectives. Birds are also diverse and lively animals. Furthermore, the Latin names all have an attractive sound and are common in many languages and cultures

Touit ! Zeiss probably didn't consider how the Cantonese will pronounce it. :)

MWP it's a perfect name ma. It's a bird!

Anyone interested to preserve a little bit of Singapore history? These Rollei 50/1.8 HFT were manufactured in Singapore in QBM mount. In QBM mount, it will hit the mirror of FF cameras. [edit] There is a seller in Taiwan who has 50 copies of old new stock, direct from a warehouse from Germany. I am getting one. If anyone else is interested, I will order together and split the cost equally. Please PM me for those wanting a copy. I hope to place order by next Friday. See the Q&A and status updates below. The original cost can be seen in the link below with estimated shipping cost. These may not be the actual price as I am still talking to the seller.

Please click on the link and read.

------------------------------
FAQ

Q1) Why you might want to buy this lens?
A1) For nostalgic reason. Some Rollei lenses were made in Singapore in 1970-80s. This is probably the cheapest among them

Q2) Why is it so expensive then?
A2) It is an old new stock and will have a custom M42 mount being made to replace the original QBM mount.

Q3) Why do I want to replace the mount to M42?
A3) While you can buy a QBM-EOS adapter but it will not allow you to focus to infinity on FF bodies. By changing to M42 and adding another adapter, the seller claim he can achieve infinity focus. M42 also provide more flexibility to mount on different brands of camera.

Q4) Which brand of camera can I mount M42 on?
A4) Any camera that has the appropriate adapters. AFAIK - Canon EF , Sony A , Sigma SA, Pentax Pk.

Q5) How is the Image Quality?
A5) I suspect Rollei manufactured this lens to compete with Contax 50/1.7. And Rollei HFT is comparable to T*. So it should be good. But I have not used it and you should consider this at your own risk.

Q6) Is it worth it?
A6) This is subjective. There are many other manual focus lenses that may be cheaper. But as I mentioned, this has a little bit about owning a bit of Singapore's history. You can seldom get an old new stocked lens. And best of all, something you can use as well.

Q7) Can I back out after I placed an order?
A7) No. It will not be fair to me. So make up your mind before you contact me. I am doing this out of interests and do not profit from it.

Q8) Can I order without the mount change?
A8) Yes. You can. However, for my convenience, I will only order with the original mount and converted to M42 mount. For other options, you may want to contact the seller directly.

Status Updates. I hope to do it simple and quick so Mod don't kick me to MO section.

[update on 4/5] I have managed to negotiate a better price. Please PM me if you are interested. While China is seeking for its own summer palace relics, we should also preserve a little bit of Singapore history. :)

[update on 4/5 11.07pm] 2 out of 5 taken. Need one more to confirm order with seller. 3 more lenses available.

[updated on 7/5 10pm] 3 lenses taken. Seller has 50 pieces instead of 5. Will close order on this Friday 10/5 12pm.

[updated on 10/5] Closed and ordered.

[updated on 19/5] Understand from seller that someone from US ordered more than 30 pcs. So stocks for these old new lenses are running low.

Do you mean CZJ Biotar 75/1.5 ?

----------------------------------

On a separate note, there is a very nice copy of Contax 50/1.7 in BnS. Can't say the same about the price though. But I guess the price has gone through the roof for this lens. 3 years ago, I sold my 50/1.7 serial # 88xxx88 for $188 :mad2:

So the Rollei 50/1.8 is quite a good deal. Quick! Don't miss it. This lens is supposed to compete with Contax 50/1.7.
As long as I got another 2 person who want to buy. I will place order. Don't want to miss it. I can buy all 5 and put it up in BnS but price will be different. :)

Thanks Fuwen.

I think these are rather old photos being digitized. They have the aged photo look.
