Hi Bro Kenneth67C,

Is it difficult to focus using the 5D3 with Zeiss lenses? I wanted to upgrade my 5D2 to 5D3 previously but held back because the focusing screen cannot be changed. Please do give me your advice. Thanks.

Hi
You mean shooting in general, or shooting macro specifically?

General shooing, the 100MP has focus confirmation with the 5D3, so to me it is fine.
Macro requires quite a bit more control to get focus lock due to the very shallow DOF.
I've tried shooting handheld macro and it CAN be done, though not easy. For still life, still possible depending on your handholding technique.
If the insect is fast moving, I wouldn't advise using this lens, its way too slow. I'd say go with the 100L instead.

I took a couple of shots at the Sentosa flower festival...can post them when I get back and process. Spent some time with bro Obelix and family and tried out his Contax 100MP which has AF and can do 1:1 macro. If macro is your objective, I think this is a better option.

For portraits, the ZE100MP is a dream lens, even the ZE50MP is excellent.

Any verdict on the 2 lenses?

Ha ha .... bro MWP very anxious to know. :bsmilie:

Unfortunately, we have to wait for bro Kenneth to download the images taken with the 2 macro lenses and do side by side comparison on sharpness, contrast, saturation, etc.

However, in relation to the EF100L and N100 comparison (my wife uses the EF100L that day), images seen from the camera rear LCD shows that the N100 handles color contrast and saturation much better than the EF100L (colors looks fake on the EF100L), despite the AF speed for EF100L is much faster than the N100. IMO, sharpness between the 2 lenses are on par with each other.

I salute bro Kenneth for the ability to handhold and manual focusing the ZE100MP whilst taking macro shots. My hands are not that steady enough to handle such feat.

Any af or mf primes in the range of 80-100mm? Looking for excellent optics and iq.

With Auto Focus - EOS-converted Contax N Planar 85mm f1.4 & N100mm f2.8 Macro Sonnar (for Canon user only)

Manual Focus - Plenty to choose from: C/Y or ZE/ZF Planar 85mm f1.4 & 100mm f2 Macro Planar

Thanks bro Obelix. Am curious to see the difference between the 2 lenses. Fortunately macro is not my thing, else I wll have a real headache with all these lenses :-)

Thanks! Heard so much about the 100mp. Just wondering if the 100 canon f2 would compare.

If anyone is interested, TK has got a new batch of Distagon 15mm f/2.8 now. Both ZF.2 and ZE mount.

Not sure how much the 15/2.8 is going for in Singapore. Here is one from eBay with "Make Offer" option.

Maybe Shiro can advise us the pros of getting the lens locally.

And can someone please buy this. It is causing my shoulder angel and devil to keep whispering into my ears. :)
Zeiss ZE 35/1.4 , BnS

Was looking for a ZM 15/2.8, but d price is jaw dropping. Settled for a Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 ASPH II M mount instead... Easier to stomach as it is 8 times cheaper. Sorry for the OT...

Price ranges from $4150 to $4400.

Ebay prices are around $3600. With GST and shipping, it will be just under $4000. So yes, its more expensive to get it locally but you get to test the lens before buying.

About the scenario with you. Waiting for the new X-mount 12mm Zeiss, but could not wait any longer. Settled for a Voigtlander 12mm ASPH instead.

Haha... actually I m using the X-E1 and the 12mm Zeiss will be perfect but a long wait it will be. Was considering the XF14mm from Fuji, the performance is really great as shown in major reviews, but did not take the bite as I would not be able to re use this lens when I buy the Leica M240 this year. So bought the CV 15mm instead to cover my UWA lens option for the Leica M240. Cheers.

Sorry for the delay... anyway here are the pics... excuse the FB compression.
Can you tell the difference?

Most of the time, I spent with the Contax 100MP because it was so fun to use with AF:

Seems like there is no difference in the IQ from the ZE100MP and Contax N100. The colour and saturation seems alike.

There is a slight difference in the color, but not much.
What I really like about the Contax is AF...lol and 1:1 magnification. Here the Contax wins.
Only issue is its heavy...lol...but really nice lens if you're going to do macro... I'm sure your wife will love it.

My guess: the 1st picture is using ZE and 2nd picture is from the Contax N.
