Anything Zeiss....

I was very lucky on Saturday to have found this pretty lens while on one of my lens hunt @ 2nd stores. The CZJ Flektogon 20mm f/4 (ribbed version).

The aperture was stuck, but the glass was clean and sharp enough. So I bought it anyway (for a very good price) and hope that I can find a way to repair it.

When I opened it up to inspect, it was just a spring issue that can be repaired in a jiffy. Distortion is almost zero on a crop frame in my initial photos.

Need to test with a FF to check if I got an excellent copy.

Anyone saw this or bought this?

Whole set-up went for S$ 1888. The 35f1.4, if no fault, can easily fetch S$1500. Don't know who is the lucky guy. If I were to be still using my 5D I could have picked the set up, but was too late anyway, as it really went fast.

Hi Anthony, I am not trying to pour cold water over such a good deal. The 28/2.8 AEJ will not clear mirror of 5D. There are some reports of 35/1.4 not clearing mirror as well and I would suspect that it is the AEG version. I sold my converted to M42 85/1.4 MMJ for between $600-700, thought the price is more likely to hover ard $800. So whether the deal is sweet or not depends on how the buyer intend to use the lenses and how many lenses are usable. IMO, it is a risky buy.

Carl Zeiss ZM 50mm f1.5 Sonnar on M7 with Kodak TriX 400

Zeisser, we have a couple of lens of similiar mound. This is great! I too have just done a studio shoot with the N 24-85 but of a different type of subject. I find that I have to dial EV to -1/3 to -2/3 as under EV 0, the resultant image tend to be slightly over exposed and hence lower contrast. I am thinking this is due to the huge front element size (82mm). Do you have this problem with the N28-80?

85mm f11 with strobes. This kit lens is really sharp. It makes your subject pops and looks really shiny ;p

The EV level is set @-1/3 stop on my 5D and I find that the N CZ 28-80mm works fine with the exposure in studio shoot to be accurate.

But in my opinion a lens front element whether large or small - 82mm or 55mm(N CZ 28-80mm) will not affect exposure. Below studio shot was taken with my
manual CZ Vario Sonnar 28-85mm (82mm) @ 1/125 F5.6 Fuji Experia Iso 200. Perhaps manual lens differ from AF lens in obtaining exposure am not sure.

I am still hunting for a chrome Sonnar! Once I get it, I will be an official Zeissman!

While waiting for other users to pop in....

Never did own a CZ Planar 50mm F1.4 which I regretted very much. But managed to buy one N CZ Planar 50/1.4 recently and will be sending for conversion soon.

Great lens and simply love the side lights. That's a plus for Zeiss lens the color saturation is so
accurate.

Which chrome sonnar are you hunting for? How are you going to use them, adapt using Mirex?

I'm looking for the Zeiss 2004 version in ZM Mount:)

I just re-joined the Zeiss group last week. :P
Bought the 50mm/f1.4 ZE mount on 5D MK II.
Tried on yesterday shoot.
Love the sharpness and contrast.

Anyone here owns the CV 58f1.4 SL II? I am considering a couple of 50s for my Pentax K5 and the Pentax version is similar to my former ZE lenses in terms of operation, so it's a good consideration. At S$ 600 it's a good buy.

Totally unfamiliar with Leica. Post some photos taken by the lens. Let the photos do the talking.

You can see them in my flickr. :bsmilie:

Anyway, one image attached for your reference.:)

dun want. Want to see it here.

Wah lao, your subject pops man. Which aperture is this taken? Maybe you want to change to another photo. This lens is so sharp that it is showing too much details.

:bsmilie:. I am also surprised about the results that come out of the lens.
I think the image was taken at the aperture f2.8. Need to confirm. :)

To bring up this thread, i  the Zeiss "POP"!

M7 - ZM Sonnar 50mm f1.5 - Trix 400

Wow! The Sonnar seems to pop even more than the Planar, or is it the effect of B/W. Very tempted to move to RF.

The N17-35 is simply amazing. I am very curious how much better is the ZE 21 to maybe convinced me to give up the wide angle and versatility of a zoom

Another shot. My favourite playground
