My case almost same with you,
I downgraded from 1D2 to 60D,
really regretted after this decision.

after that I moved to nikon D700,
becomes happy NIKON user now :)

Have not used a d7k b4 but I downgraded from a 5d mkii to 60d... I must say I utterly regretted making that decision back then... Moved on to a d700(cos got on board flash) after that and I am a happy man again...

BROTHERS, Welcome to the Dark Side !
:p

D7000 will never get clean pic even at ISO1600, while d700 is still clean at 6400... See e diff..

TS, since u so strongly feel tat way why dun u just go get the d700? u got the budget then go for d700. if not then forget it.

So you know or you don't know?
Or just stirring up opinions from users?

Sounds like you believe so strongly in D700. Then just buy it! :)

I think mine is defective. Coz I still get noise already at 3200... how about yours? LOL

Give the guy a break, i think what he was trying to get at is D700 is a lot cleaner than D7k at high ISO.
But noise can be very tricky thing, I've seen clean images even at ISO6400 when exposed properly on APS-C with good light while it can also be noisy at ISO400 if not exposed properly

It's not so much the 'clean-ness', but the amount of details retained even at high ISOs, instead of that 'smudginess' you get from over-aggressive noise removal algorithms.

But yes I agree with you that when properly exposed, the noise is less visible and less annoying.

I guess the terms "clean" and "noisy" are still pretty subjective unless there is a way to quantify them. If not, there will always be debates.

Budget + Need = Go Get it
No Budget + Got Need = Make do with existing, Save up or Rent
Got Budget + No Need = You money, your wish.
No Budget + No Need = What for waste money??

You seriously need to look at the guy's post history and threads started.

What you are saying is the SNR Signal-to-noise-ratio which can be measured by standard deviation. A ratio of signal vs noise.. The higher the deviation, the more noise compared to the signal.
DPreview website does include the SNR standard deviation measurement

I prefer to judge visually.
The final outcome is what matters most! :)

I just upgrade from D7000 to D700. Good cam, have not really shoot out yet but the ergonomic is much better

I agree with u. He keep thinking that a better camera will produce e best pic. Look at e d7000 thread. He is really making headline n getting e best joke ever!

You already have the answers actually. All you're looking for now is the satisfaction of people supporting your answer. Spend the time composing more shots rather than comparing D7000 and D700. Are you gonna shoot a wedding album with all the people standing straight with their hands by their sides? Good image quality isn't what your clients are after. It's good photo quality.
