Anyone still play with Seagull?

u can bring it to singapore hoya distributor "Seng Cheong" at middle road. They got technician to help u out

anyone know where to clean the lens of a seagull 4a? everything is working fine, except for a dirtied lens.

Yeah, its easy enough but 1 thing u have to make sure. DO NOT screw the lenses from the rear. You should just twist out the front group of the lens and clean the lens from there and twist it back finger tight. I CLAed all my TLRs this way and have yet to have any focusing issues.

If you do screw the lens from the rear, you're assured of a jolly good time finding back the alignment for the focusing and matching it with the top lens. :bsmilie:

sorry to bring up old thread but anybody knows if seagull 4 is any good? cant seem to find any review of it. got offered a unit, not sure if i should take it.

Which one? HaiOu 4, Seagull WWSC 4A107 or Seagull 4A107?

Many hates it. So many don't care about it. It cheap and good. :)

Dear friends, in the past few years I posted about the Seagull camera as a viable option.
I own the Seagull 4A107 WWSC (export aimed at UK/Europe market).
I own the Seagull 4B-1 new
I also own a series of other Seagull 4A1017 4A109 series.
I recommended them because of their good price to performance ratio.

However, recently, I discovered that the sales of Seagull 4A107 have issues.
note that Seagull 4A107 has stopped production in the 2004 period. What stock now are the remnants.
The issues include camera not working, have oil, scratches, or jamming.
I had several feedbacks that the buying of Seagull 4A107 here can be very trying.... :(

If you want to buy a 4A107 locally, perhaps the Hoga shop in SunShine plaza is ok.
Be prepared the Seagull may have issues (minor, like oil, etc).
Exercise the Seagull a while, then send for CLA (clean, lubricate, adjust).

Since Rolleicord now are going cheap in US or Germany, getting one Rolleicord V Va Vb could be a way out.

Those who have ears let them hear.

thanks Jon for the info

yashica is another choice these days..

Correct. Personally, Yashica also have issues (mainly due to age).
But recently the prices come down to about USD$250. Its worth a try. :)

Camera given by my late grand father. Think it's about 30 years old. Sent it for servicing and took a few photos of my loved ones.

Sent the roll for developing and printing. They don't look that bad for my first time trying out film camera right?

Were the pictures taken by the Seagull specially processed for effects? The seagull lens is crisp, sharp and contrasty - perhaps too hard even, and too prone to flares, but definitely not that Holga-ish :-)

Ya i felt it was too lomo..even de developing on de films seems weird

they look like prints "scanned" using digital camera, a pns perhaps?

i did not scan it, i took the developed photos via lumix. It's black and white film. Maybe the surrounding lighting caused it to be lomo-ed.
