Anyone kanna MSN virus, .1fp9.info?

Hi Hi...

Need some info over here, hope you can help...

I got a friend who, unfortunately went to the website that his friend send him. It requires you to enter ur MSN username and password and there he goes and logged in the msn stuff. Somewhat like a breach of security, now my friend also start to send this address unvoluntarily to his friends including me. Now he knows its a trojan/virus, he is looking for help.

Does anyone know what type of virus is that so I can look for a cure? :dunno:

Tried google it but not much result... Guess not alot of ppl kanna this. A new MSN virus perhaps?

Mac mahz, it is a choice to keep away those viruses. But don think my friend will change it cos its a new laptop he is holding...

He might try AVG anti-virus free version at http://www.grisoft.com/ though Trend Micro has an online scanner.

I think quite alot of ppl has been affected by it. My friends also kana but I think they reformat their lappy. Best thing to do now is use the latest anti virus and do a scan and see wat are the recommendations from the software.Most probably it will recommend quarantine it...

Yeah, reformat, that is one of the choice to be considered. But this silly friend of mine donno where is the boot disc that comes with it...

Probably use a anti-virus and see how is it going.

wat i did is just system restore to a early date before i get the virus and it work for me. Sometime Anti-virus see it as just a normal file, it cant delect it

Actually, just uninstall your msn, then reinstall it will do.
That's what I did..
But this virus, i don't think it's harmful though..
It's just quite irritating when my messenger always "sign out" automatically, and after that sending the same link to others.

My Norton anti virus is unable to detect the file, even after updating virus definition..

That's coz you enter your MSN username and password via a "phishing" website, not some downloaded content. So it doesn't matter whether you're using Windows or Mac or Linux. I googled.

Good work in finding that. The only way to avoid that is to use Firefox or Opera or IE version 7 and hope that the anti-phishing software is working and that site (or sites) has been added to their list.

any site that asks you to provide your MSN address and password to view the contents should set off the alarm bells already..

recieved the link today..and even the T&C seem fishy..it repeatedly states that it is not a "phising site"..think its been repeated in at least 5 paragraphs.. -_-
