Any comments to share as i am thinking of getting one in the coming months... How usable is it in Singapore context as we lack any major interesting landscape scenary. I kinda like the idea of it being able to take both normal portrait and panaromic pictures..

Thanks
Justin

been using it a while now. An excellent camera for street photography if u don't mind the slow speed lens (f4). Who cares, light in SG is excellent!

Any sample shots to show of Singapore ??? :)

how does it handle i.e just like a normal slr ? How much did you pay for your camers... :)

I can feel the BUY BUY BUY creaping up..

it's a nice solid camera that's feels good in your hands..... well made.... if you've done manual focusing before then it shouldn't be a problem otherwise you've got to keep reminding yourself that it's not AF, believe with the bright viewfinder it's quite easy to forget. if u want AF can consider a contax G2....

mine's an xpan, not an xpanII. got it 2nd hand but in very good condition. don't know if the price is relevant to you or not.

i think the most vital improvement of the xpanII over the original is the display of the shutter speed in the viewfinder. it's a bit of a hassle for me to compose, take my eye off, check the LCD for shutter speed and look back into the viewfinder.

It is a good and solid camera but the low-speed of the lens turns me off!
I still prefer my leicas with all its fine Summicron and Summilux lenses!

What scanner did you use to scan your negatives?

Try HP S20, old (2400dpi) but works well for this format. The film is fed by motorised mechanism, which draws the negative/positive into scanner, and ejects out the same way it went in. Normaly, takes 5 frames of 24x36mm, and for xpan you specify the frame lines on the software, since the frame is 24x65mm. HP S20 is dedicated film scanner, whilst you can try other flatbeds in the market.

using an Epson RX510... works well for pano shots although it took a bit of figuring out.....

IT show having good price for it...S$398 if i'm not wrong.

Heard about the S20, but read reviews that the scanner breaks down easily.

With the Epson RX510, do you have to scan it two times over?

here's my 2c worth of photos as promised:

nah... just one go and you're done.

Hi, I have a couple of X-pan Is and one X-pan II, all 3 lenses, so obviously like them a lot. I use them strictly for panorama, and find them simple to use with outstanding results. I have used just about everything under the sun (Fuji 617, Tecnorama 617, the big and small Noblexes, the small Widelux, the Hassy SuperWide, and several others)--of all that I have used, the X-pans are the best choice for me because of their quality, their relatively small size, and their simplicity of operation. You don't need a separate meter, you can carry the equipment in a small bag, and you can focus without a glass screen are among the reasons I like them. The only drawback, besides price of course, is that the rangefinder viewfinder isn't as bright and easy to focus as something like a Mamiya 6 or 7, but generally good enough in all but the worst situations (corrugated or similar repeated surfaces and/or parallel lines). I usually carry 2 bodies and the 3 lenses; 1 w/B&W the other w/color transparency. Personally, I think the X-pans, and the 3 lenses, represent the best possible marriage of quality, function and simplicity. Now if they would just cut the prices in half....

how much is the second hand price for xpan + 45mm
