Anyone has focusing problems with your M9?

I have focusing problems with my new M9!!

Out of 4 pieces of summilux 50/1.4 (v1, v2, v3 black, v4 E46), when shot wide open, only the E46 focuses perfectly, both near (0.7m) and far (100m). The v3 black is perfectly focused at 1m, but out at 50m (back focused). Both v1 and v2 are front focused throughout. BTW, these lenses all focus perfectly on my good old M6.

I'm confused now. Is it M9's problem or the lenses' problem?

What is your experience of focusing fast lenses on M9?

TIA for sharing.

I do not have the expertise to help you, but I am noob enough to post here to register my amazement you have the complete collection of summilux! waah...i wish i got so many liap of summilux to play with

all my 3 lenses new and old focus pin sharp on my m9

there were known mis alignment issue with m9 and some have sent the body back to rectify it. if you have more than 1 lenses consistently giving u the problem, it warrants a check with a specialist.

Could you let me know the links about the known alignment issue (just so I can know if mine warrants a fault report)? Tks.

As for specialist, sad to say that none found here.
(and the last thing I want to do is to send it to Schdmit, only to be told that "no choice, we have to send it back to Germany." (that is, at least down for 3 months, and might return with la-gi more problems.)

Aiya, those liaps are from my collector friend lah (two is enuf, no? :bsmilie:) He is asking me to choose any one I like. Unfortunately, the one spot on is what I dislike most, BP E46. Too heavy lah.

Anyway, found THIS and THAT. Looks like I am not alone!

Yup, I had focus problems with my M9 when I first received it as I had front focusing on all my lenses. Sent the M9 back to Leica NJ with my lenses to get calibrated. Now the images are razor sharp, especially with the asph lenses.

How I wish I could send it to Leica NJ.

To Schdmit SG, haaaizzzz.

Actually, the turn around from Leica Germany is much much faster. Do not send to NJ. they take a long time. work is good, but they take a long long time.

Didn't face any out of focus issue on my M9...as with ALL rangefinder...if may be off due to vibration and heavy handling...is your horizontal alignment at infinity off?

Can't you just sent the camera to De Olde guy... the M9 have the same rangefinder since the film days yes?

And why would he want to do that when his camera is under warranty from Leica? :)

Anyway, I don't have any focusing issues with my M9.

My M9 is under warranty but my lenses are not! Also, sending it to Germany means no M9 for 3 months or more. No-no for me.

OTOH, if my M9 were out of warranty, I will NOT send it to whoever here locally for repair. I would rather pay more and send it to DAG.

It must be my luck that I encountered RF problems for two new M9 in a row. Thanks God I managed to solve my M9's focusing problem (believe it or not, by DIY adjustment!) with help from experts in another forum.

Cheers,

Haha I understand. My M9 is actually my second. The first one failed after 3 days because it could not read the SD card, but I was given a new set on the fifth day which has been working fine since.:)

It is longer wait... even longer if its not fixed right, bump during delivery etc...
