Anyone got their NEX5n?

Im at the sony suntec(mc2) and their price is1299. Is that the shop alvin?

Yes. Only resellers like Juzz or MC2 can give discounts. Official Sony shop fixed price $1299. Tried out the 5N at IMM Sony shop. Photo quality is very good even at ISO3200 or 6400. However, I find that the focusing is a bit slow to my liking... Wondering if I shd sell my K-x and get this camera...

Nex camera with CDAF focus is made for different shooting style and not meant to replace full blown DSLR with PDAF focus.. Just like Nex7 is not meant to replace the A77 but for people that wants small body with APS-C sensor. It does have short comings like slower AF which I hope will be sorted out in the next generation NEX since EP-3 can do AF at amazing fast speed. Also, you can consider adding an A-mount adaptor later with PDAF and translucent mirror which opens up A-mount lens option but the whole look and feel will be different

Actually I dun tink cdaf is dat slow. It should be fine most of de time unless u always shooting sports. Often small differences are made to appear much more significant than they really are. Like some cars where a higher powered model which costs a lot more more than a lower powered one but de 0-100 time is actually only different by 0.5seconds. And most of de time u dun even use de full acceleration of de car anyway.

yes. Sony will be launching a new adaptor for A-mount lens but the AF only works with SAM or SSM lens. I look thru the entire lens collection at IMM Sony and only found 2 lens with SSM or SAM.

The new adaptor LA-EA2 works with all Minolta AF and Sony Lenses, even without SAM/SSM.

U are referring to de current LA-EA1 adaptor. De new LA-EA2 will not only have a translucent mirror to allow PDAF it will also have de screw drive motor to handle non-SAM/SSM lenses. De only thing "missing" from this combo is de SSI sensor shift stabilizer. Btw actually got more than a handful of lens with SAM/SSM. U should check de Sony website. I can already tell u de following: 55-200, 35/1.8, 50/1.8, 2470z & 2875 all have.

Really? So can I use this EA2 adapator with Tamron or Sigma Sony-Mount lens and achieve full manual controls including AF? What I need is just a 28 -75 F2.8 + 18-200 F3.5-6.3 for my pattern of usage. Tamron lens are much smaller, lighter and cheaper than the current E mount lens.

Sorry. Question on focus peaking.

I saw some cheap Pentax - NEX adaptor being sold in eBay. This will allow me to mount Pentax lens onto the NEX.

Will focus peaking work under such combinations? If it works, then there is no need to get rid of my Pentax lens liao. The new LA-EA2 is priced at almost S$800... Too much to swallow for me...

Yes, focus peaking works for any lens make as long as mounted with appropriate adaptor to e-mount.

Yes. Do bear in mind there is no image stablisation in sony lens (other than SEL "e mount" series). Since the average person's shutter speed threshold to shoot without camerashake and stabilisation aid is said to be 1/focal length so with 18-200 lens, if u shooting at tele end, u need suitable conditions/settings that enables shutter speed of 1/200secs to get a sharp image.
