Anyone considered selling Canon gear and switching to Nikon?

Have you tried D800 taking night scene? Did you ever compare to 5DIII in noise? Set to high ISO 12800, for 36mega pixels normally in MEDIUM FORMAT. Maybe next three to five years NIKON and CANON will be improved the PROCESSORS and CMOS.
My friend's shop doing printing, he told me his customer bought ONE D800 and D4 but they used D4 to compare to 5DIII.
Why don't he use D800? For day shooting NO PROBLEM what about night shoot?
Thank you so much

I'm probably one of the few people who actually liked that Canon only increased MP by 1. Sure the D800 out-resolutes the 5D3. It has to since it has 14 more MP anyway.

But seeing as how the D800 has alot more production problems than the 5D3 (light leak anyone?), I'm doubly glad I never even considered switching.

Haha. Ain't the light leak problem a 5dmk3 problem and not a d800 problem

I completely sold my 50D and lens set and just bought a 5DMK3 (light leak is non issue to me). I didn't even think about switching to Nikon as i'm comfortable with Canon system. Seriously, I really love the white lens. Just can't take my eyes off it. ;)

No I have not compared. Care to elaborate? I am at this point, no getting what you are trying to say honestly.

Its still not red.

Nikon may consider, their royal yellow(banana yellow)ring on the black barrel lens.:bsmilie: there will be interesting.

Whose care canon or nikon? do the image will shout out ,i'm capture by canon or nikon or fujifilem or panasonic, pentax or hasi or leica orother.

D700 was 12 mp, if the D800 had gone to 24 mp and the 5DMKII was 21 mp........ Had the 5DMKIII gone to 36 mp.....it's hard for me not to believe that us Canon shooters wouldn't be a much happier bunch.

I think if we're all truly honest we'd have to agree on that.

I'd only be happy if they still offered mRaw or sRaw if the 5DIII had 36mp.

Not unless I have an option of smaller raw files like mraw at the very least.

If just talking about swtiching system to higher mega pix camera like D800. I would rather get medium format. :)

Come on, we have to be honest with ourselves. If the 5DMKIII had been 36mp and the D800 had been 24mp..........we Canon shooters would have been over the moon and so happy with Canon over Nikon.

The 5DMKII being 21pm was REVOLUTIONARY just like the D800 is at 36mp.

I can't shake the feeling that Canon has let us down. And the 5DMKIII is just a stop gap and that Canon will quickly bring out another body with higher mp to compete with the D800 that will leave a lot of 5DMKIII owners feeling that they paid a lot of money for what really was a 5DMKIIn

Sorry, I'm not losing sleep over this issue. It seems to me that you have a massive case of buyer's remorse and you see others out there enjoying their camera. You're just trying to convince everyone else so that you won't feel alone.

Just sell off the bloody camera and lenses and go over and quit whining. You've been doing it since the first week.

It's a discussion forum.....I'm discussing things.

Thanks for your input into the discussion, it's appreciated.

In an ideal world, I will like the D800E sensor packaged with the 5D3 that has a built in focus assist beam. But that is a dream.

I own both the D800E and 5D3. Do I really need the extra megapixels? It is nice to have but I really don't need it for what I do. If I had to choose between one of them, it will be the 5D3 because it is a more well rounded camera.

Now what I really want is a Nikon F6, changing film = changing sensor. A new sensor with every roll!

lol..Never ending.
Give you more choices. Problem..
Dont give you choices. Problem..
How?

Honestly not for me. I ditched the Nikon system partly because of this ridiculously high megapixel which is at this moment very unforgiving in terms of photography technique and low FPS. Not that the 5D Mk3 was ridiculously fast mind you but certainly not 3fps.

Plus canon allows much smaller raw files if needed in a pinch. The D800 didn't allow me that.

But to add a disclaimer, BOTH are great cameras for what they do. The 5D Mk3 just suited my shooting style better, that's all.

What Nikon body were you using when you made the switch?

When I went from the 5Dc to the 5DMKII the increase in resolution was absolutely amazing to me. The cropping factor was fantastic. So *I* honestly would have been over the moon for the 5DMKIII to have been 36mp.

AND.......we pulling the wool over our own eyes if we don't think that Canon is going to go higher mp.

We sound like all the D700 users who used to blindly say that 12mp was all they needed when they secretly used to lust after the resolution of the 5DMKII at nearly double the mp.

Sorry......I just can't shake the feeling that the 5D3 is destined to be written down in history as one of those stop gap models.......soon to be quickly superceded and leaving their owners feeling a little hard done by.

It's just a matter of time for the manufacturers to offer nearly equal capabilities, so there's no point in switching back and forth. :)

I agree with this. Canon is definately going to answer the D800

I really don't think that 5D2 owners should rush for the 5D3, I think that they're in the position to wait and see what Canon do.

Yea. 3 option

Either you
1) Just keep buying
2) Just keep waiting

OR

3) Just be happy with what you have (before/after purchasing) and stop comparing.

I'll go for 3. Good luck and all the best to you.

I am CANON SUPPORTER since 1982, and I just got my 5Dmark3. And I'm still using 5DII. Very happy with CANON system especially L series. Canon gives a very nice SKIN tone. I took lots of event using 5DII and now compared to MARK 3 must salute to CANON which upgraded to DIGIC 5 processor. As for noise level, no complaint. If you are rich, yes nobody can stop you by switching systems. LIGHT LEAK, who is the STUPID photographer used camera to take pictures WITHOUT THE LENS? Yes I agreed LIGHT LEAK, for ladies photographers putting on flare skirt once wind blow will be LIGHT LEAK!

Would you like the resolution that the D800 is offering? How long till Canon can match it?
Have you been comparing the output images from the 5d3 and the D800 ?

Do you feel that Canon users are missing out on much?
