Actually frankly speaking, Ive been looking for alpha outings but couldn't find any. Those stickied thread in this forum created by sulhan are not even active. If possible could you guide me to the proper place for alpha outing?

check your lens
it might be attached the reverse way.

Erm bros, while I was putting on and tightening UV filter on my 18-70mm kit lens..think I over-tightened and it gt stuck..meaning I cant remove it. Doesnt matter right... does it? :embrass: Also, it took me awhile to realise the focusing ring only goes loose when I switch cam to manual focusing otherwise its tight in auto focusing mode. I kind of turn it a few times while cam is in auto fousing mode. Will damage the focusing ring?

Better not to tighten the filter so much. As time goes by it will be stuck and you may have difficulty removing it.

Try not to turn the lens focusing ring when the cam is on AF mode next time.

of coz...wont turn the focusing ring again unless in manual focusing mode. The filter is alrd stuck. I thinking should I attempt to remove it or leave it as it is

Hi bro & sis,
Im a newbie.Would like to ask the following hope u guys can shed some light:

1) when do we off the "SSS" or we should always keep it on?

2) I find that the AEL function is ineffective.Try sm indoor shots but find that the results are the same compare to the pics i took with flash.AEL function is only for outdoor use?

3) How do we make the background de-focus ,with the sony 18-70mm lens is it
possible?

Thanks in advance

1) when using long exposures on a tripod.
2) try switching to spot metering and use the AEL.
3) easiest is to set the cam to A and use the lowest f-stop u can. the futher away the background is from the subject the better the out of focus should be, with the kit lens.
 :)

Thanks for your valuable advice doomslayer. Can you please tell me when to use the AEL function and how it works?Paiseh my first time using DSLR.Thanks in advance.

I feel that you should try to loosen it before it gets too tight.
