Any recommendation for compact camera?

Hi guys,

not sure whether this is a good place to post...but in clubsnap...i only visit Minolta forum the most.. haha....
my parents are going overseas...and my 7D is too bulky and dangerous for them to use ;p
want to get them a compact camera...any one got any recommendations? dun have to be minolta one... budget around $400-$500 ?
I was looking at the panasonic one with mega OIS...tt one good?

I bought IXUS 55. 5 Megapix and 2.5" LCD. It is fun to use and play with. Good bateery life also.
