anybody can offer some inside info? hehe...thx

IT Show is time for freebies not for price drop :dunno:

Agree. For the past 2 yrs that I've observed, price drop never happen. Search around the forum will give you same result.

Price drops hardly ever happens. They just jack up the price to RRP and throw in more freebies so you think it's more worth it.

but with 7D just released and probably slated for SG release in Oct, wouldn't there be price drop for like say 50D?

50D price will drop when 60D is announced. 7D and 50D is not at the same level otherwise Canon will call 7D a 60D instead. Just look at their RRP.

7D is not released in SG market yet, so it's practically a 'non-existing' model and the retailers will treat 50D as a 'new' model.

Saw last week TODAY newspaper, Canon is still shamefully advertising (2 pages) for their soon to be replaced cameras, including G10 :dunno:

Clearing stock for the new models to come in, it's normal. :bsmilie:

And not only for clearing old models, Canon is the most aggressive to adv their products. Show many programs sponsored by Canon, ads in buses, malls, newspapers, etc. Nikon less aggressive than Canon, Sony very quiet (even Oly more aggressive than Sony).

Nikon is also very aggressive, like sponsoring the SIN'09 and giving free pass and priority to Nikon users.

nikon also has tv adverts as well as bus adverts... did you miss those? i rem the D90 was marketed so hard with the horse running around.

does nikon have a showroom like canon? canon showroom is a pretty good idea, for people to get a no-frills touch on models.

Less aggressive not mean not aggressive :p
Yes, sure I saw that D90 ads with the horse, same as I saw 500D ads in the MRT stations (and yeah, Nikon ads last longer).
Everytime I watch movie in GV, Canon always remind me that they're exists :bsmilie:

nikon have a lot of advert on Bus lar.. saw D300 recently oni... should change to D300s :P

How about lens price?
Will there any discount on lenses in Comex?

Thanks

Nikon is super aggressive with their marketing and adverts ah!! The most fierce among all brands.

They are the only brand that has gigantic BUS adverts (I think). They sponsored a lot of photo exhibitions, especially during the
recent National Day period. And who hasn't seen the black horse D90 advert on TV?

TODAY is now running a series of Nikon themed photo-journal kind of advert. Even CS photo competition is sponsored by Nikon.

Canon no fight.

I saw 2 different approach from Canon/Nikon: Canon more focused to attract more new users, on other side Nikon more focused to attract experienced photographers. If my memory not fail me, I saw more Canon ads than Nikon, especially their powershot and entry level cams. Different market segment maybe?

(Yes, we are in Sony very quiet. Good products can advertise itself :bsmilie: )

Yes yes agree. If you're talking about compacts, Canon is more fierce. Maybe it's because they are confident of their DSLR sales.

Sony has a lot of showrooms around, I think they're going for the hands-on approach.

canon compacts are the best and nicest ones around,

i personally as a Nikon DSLR user, will not use their compacts,

it's just not as comfortable for me as i have all along been using canon compacts.

they're great.

Canon no fight.

canon sponsors event, like SYPC, Bowling competitions, a joint advert with 8DAYS, Supermodel.tv... they have their areas of advertising as well.

in fact, canon also advertises in 8DAYS alot with nikon... and they have a photomarathon.

they mainly see different approach in advertistments... but they get their message out.
