Officially, but are they doing anything? As I said on another thread, I phoned them this week and they said they were not importing the 55-200 zoom. Well, if that is too 'obscure' for them the future for us Pentax owners in Singapore is not very bright.

I had hoped for a more dynamic approach than J&J - can someone reassure me?

Tim

:(

I got my DA50-200 zoom at cathay and i'm pretty sure its from shriro.

Haha maybe because they were just pulling your leg, as Pentax makes no sorry 55-200 lenses! But they do have an excellent 50-200!

Don't think they have that much sense of humour :) But actually got one in the end at MSColor. Nice little lens, based on one afternoon's messing around ...

Congrats on the new lens, Tim. I'm sure you'd love it.

BTW, care to share the price you got there? I'm thinking of downgrading my F70-210 (at least the weight and size are downgrading :D) to that one ...

Cheers and happy shooting.

MS quoted me 388 inc of gst a month after getting it at CP for 420!!!!

Sometimes it pays to wait but i couldn't wait at that time.

Now they're tempting me with the DA40 that I'm trying my best to resist. Just got a Fuji F30 as a bring everywhere cam, so I'm officially broke. :D

CP are still quoting 420. I paid MScolor 400 inc gst. (So overpaid by $12 :))

Also got a couple of 67mm lens caps which I needed, so it was a productive morning.

Tim

Sell the F30 while there's still value in it, and get the DA 40 - and you'll still have a decently light go-anywhere camera! :D The beauty of Pentax!

Shriro repesentative told me that the ist DL DSLR from pentax is still on promotion at the sgd 999 while stock last, it a good buy .

 can the pentax with the FA40 fit into my pocket?

You talking about the DA40 pancake lens?
How much did they quote you?
CP quoted me $499. I'm very tempted too.
The only thing stopping me now is the knowledge that it's USD225 in US, and my wife's expected reaction...

It fits into my shorts' side pockets. Jacket pockets will definately fit.

If you can afford a little more and wait, the new K series has improved features, same basic functions but comes with CCD stablisation. Anyone who has used the Panasonic Mega OIS, or KM 5D would appreciate the usefullness of such a feature..

You too should have waited and pay the little more. ;)

i'm termpted but I already went a couple of hundred dollars above my original budget to get my current setup, so stretching it more would be like a gambler trying to quit his habit. had to draw a line somewhere. you may be surprised but in spite of the poorer efforts, I still quite like the pentax...nice to hold and use and not tiring on my hand with the kit kens.

when one has budget issues, one cannot have too high expectations..the K series WOULD have been good though...:D
