Ahh...now I remember why I bought the Pro 88W :bsmilie:

Haha! :bsmilie:

Have you tested the different Scene settings on the HMC152 ?
I want to shoot a short continuous shot using the different settings but could make the time for it.

I want to look at the different settings being played on my TV. I think that would give a better image than when played on the camera LCD. I think I'll try this weekend on one of the mornings.

Yeah, just this past weekend, I mounted by camera on a 'cheapo' (and dangerously wobbly) tripod and took shots (about 5-8 secs) of the same scene (of my room) with each of the default scene files...
Import the footage into the NLE software, did simple wipe transitions of the shots and exported them...
I think I came to conclusion that I prefer the default F6 scene file, which is the Cine D...
Haven't tried tweaking the settings further in the menu though...

Not looking for any particular brand. A cheap one will do ;)

Best not to go too cheap for this. Multi coated filters are recommended if you want to avoid glare.

Thanks for the insight, Jaegersing :)
Do you recommend any particular brand ? How much does it cost ?

I bought a multicoated B+W filter for my XH-A1 and it is pretty good. But I think it was $85 for a 72mm filter so not cheap. Smaller diameter is cheaper of course, and probably Hoya filters are cheaper than B+W.

Thanks Jaegersing,

I'll try to find out the prices for Hoya & Tokina. I try not to get one that is too cheap. Neither do I want to overkill :)

Uh, most of the filters seem to be for SLR cameras...
But they do fit on video cameras so long as it's a screw-in type and it's of the correct diameter right?

According to Eddy from SENSYS, the usual 72mm screw-in type used on DSLR lenses will fit the HMC152.

I just remembered, I bought a 72mm Tokina UV filter for my workplace camera in Sep last year. It costs S$25. I think I'll borrow it to test on the HMC152. If it fits, I'll buy another one.

Cool, I shall go shopping for one soon...
Still haven't got a bag for the camera, so cannot bring it around... :(
Sensys still haven't got back to me about the availability of the Kata CC-192 bag...

Last Friday I accompanied two friends from Malaysia to buy the HMC152 from SENSYS. As of last Friday, the CC-192 was still unavailable.

My friend ended up buying the CC-196 which was about 3 times the size. However, it suited his requirements as he always go out on projects heavily loaded ie. spotlights with big batteries, mics, DSLR etc.

You're going around promoting the HMC152 aren't you? Haha! ;)

I got a reply for my enquiry from Sensys saying that they've placed the order and will take about 3-4 weeks for stocks to arrive...
That's like, my goodness, a loooooooong time considering they're the distributor here...

No lah...if Panasonic paid me commission for doing so, maybe I'll consider. :bsmilie:

As you say, most of the filters are made for SLR, but the videocams use the same range of thread sizes so usually it is no problem. If the thread size is the same it will fit OK.

All righty... I tested the UV filter. It fits like a glove :)

Hi Guys,

I did a short clip using HMC152, with letus extreme 35mm adaptor,
Nikon 50 f1.4 lens. edited in vegas 8.0.

I like the depth of field...
But quite a bit of it are too dark for me, unless that's exactly how you want it to look...

Glad it is working.

BTW, I just saw this multicoated B+W 72mm UV filter for sale:

Maybe someone else might be interested?

Thanks for the link...
Already got mine from Cathay Photo, though pretty sure I paid a high price for it...
A little rushing for time yesterday, so I didn't want to go around comparing the prices... :embrass:
So basically I asked whether they had one, checked the quality, paid and fled...

I'm having difficulties trying to load recommended Scene files using the .txt files for the F1 -F6 dials.

For e.g I want configure <F1> = Warm look, <F2> = Romantic, etc..etc..

The guys in the DVX forum made it seem possible for their 150 to work with the configured .txt files.

Any of you guys loaded any Scene files from .txt files yet? Or is it impossible for the 152EN due to different configurations?

Wondering. Hmmm... :9

Im itching to purchase the materials needed to build my very own 35mm adapter.

Anyone out there ever tried doing it by yourself and achieved this mini mechanical engineering success?

From the way I see it, the HMC 152 will be complete when I start horsing around by building an adapter for my toy. Would be good to know if you have the same urge as me. :)

I'm itching to experiment and achieve the desired depth of field. Any one with the same desire? :)

Got your answers for the scene settings ?

I've watched some of the footages on 35mm adapters. Saw how to make them but what do they actually do ? Do they just make the screen more rectangular or give a blurr image etc ?

Sorry lah...not familiar with movie settings

It's supposedly gives the images a short depth-of-field to give the video a film-look like. I just like the nice "Bokeh"... So I will come back after I get all the barang-barang and test shoot. :)
