I'm having difficulties trying to load recommended Scene files using the .txt files for the F1 -F6 dials.

For e.g I want configure <F1> = Warm look, <F2> = Romantic, etc..etc..

The guys in the DVX forum made it seem possible for their 150 to work with the configured .txt files.

Any of you guys loaded any Scene files from .txt files yet? Or is it impossible for the 152EN due to different configurations?

Wondering. Hmmm... :9

Hi Bro,

I went to the DVX forum to look for those .txt files. Can't find them leh. I only saw your conversations with Barry Green. Can you post or PM me the link ? Thanks :)

Hi Guys,

I just got to know that Barry Green, the Emmy Award-winning Producer is coming to Singapore on 15th June and he will be at Broadcast Asia as well. He will be conducting sessions on HMC152EN.

Yup. He's the guy in the DVXUSER forum :D

Sweet!
But where on earth is Sinema Oldschool?? Can't even find it in the street directory...
Also, I'm assuming the master class is free, since there's no mention about having to pay...

Think I'll register for one during BroadcastAsia since I'll be working on the 15th...

Sinema Oldschool is somewhere behind Cathay.
11, Mount Sophia. In Street Directory it's called Old School.

I registered for the session on the 15th because I think it will be in a more relaxed environment and the session is slightly longer, at least that is what is stated on the article.

Ah I see...
Well, as much as I want to attend the longer session, I have work at 6pm on the 15th...
Tendency is there will be delays and I don't wanna risk being late for work... :embrass:
So since I'll be going to BroadcastAsia/CommunicAsia on the 18th, I'll attend the master class on that day, despite it being shorter (Mr. Green will definitely be tired repeating his stuff so many times by then)... :(

I can see at least 2 people starting to sell their DVX100 Cam in the Buy/Sell section.
Would be interesting to know which camera will be in their wishlist next.

Upgrading to a HMC 152en perhaps? Hmmm.... :9

Talk to Barry, he such a nice guy...he strongly recommend the hmc 152 for wedding and event as well.
Did you guys actually try other brand of sdhc card like scandisk extreme 3( 30mb which is faster than panasonic ) cost around $190
maybe we should have a hmc 150 club gathering?

I attended Barry's master class at BroadcastAsia and it was brilliant...
Overall though, I can't help but feel that the master class is more of an advertising session for Panasonic...
Nevertheless, he made it lively and entertaining and wished it was longer because Barry didn't manage to touch on the HMC152 at all...

The only memory cards I'm using now are a couple of Kingston 8GB and a couple of Panasonic 4GB, all class 4...

HMC club gathering?
I was briefly talking about this with Desertfox but there's only a handful of us here using the AVCCAM as far as I know...
Of course, size is not everything, so a small group isn't necessarily a bad thing...

I thought so too. He didn't touch on it during the session at Sinema Oldschool either :bsmilie:

I'm using Transcend 8GB & 16GB Class 6 for my wedding shoots. Good so far. Found out yesterday that the 32GB Transcend is selling for S$197.
A bit steep leh but it can enable me to shoot 3 hrs at the highest bitrate
But then again, not sure if it's good to place all clips in one card

I'm all for the gathering. It'll be good if we can share workflows and settings. It's also good for me to be able to know the faces of the names here :D

Any users of HMC152EN with third party batteries?
Original batteries are usually overpriced (though more reliable), but with the economy doing so badly, it's no harm sourcing for some alternatives eh? ;)
I know it sounds a little cheapskate, but I wanna ask around for the opinions on using third party batteries (if there's any) for this camera...

If you know where to get it, please share the information...

Thanks...

thanks Roy, yeah i bought it from best bargain as well. too bad they dont have 16gb .
but the cheapest i got for 16gb was $170. intend to get a few sdhc for oversea shoot.

8GB - Class 6 (Never heard of brand) selling at AngMoKio Fairprice Extra for $33
It should work the same even without the branded sticker pasted on it. Do check it out. :)

The thing about using an unheard of brand is the risks involved. Dropped frames, corrupted footage, missing files...etc. We do not know how reliable or unreliable the card is since the reputation of the manufacturer is little known if not unknown at all.

Then again, all the well-known brands started off as unknown and unproven. Who knows, this particular unknown 8GB Class 6 SDHC Card at AMK FairPrice may outperform the well-known ones

There are risks in product malfunction even if the product comes with a lifetime warranty. I too don't know the reliable of such expensive cards despite it's reputed reputation. Heck! Perhaps the reputation of such manufacturers is bolstered through aggressive marketing strategy. Who knows? In the end, all the chips came from the same factory...manufactured and printed differently somewhere in China... we consumers and hobbyist alike tend to follow online chatters and techie wannabe professor too easily. At the end of the day, I think it's just a chip that should record at its best possible speed. Some people have the best and fastest equipment in the world but still couldn't even make it to Bollywood!

For now, I haven't had any problems shooting in high bit rates with my Class 2 cards.(HMC 150 brochure stated that Class 2 cards is not advisable for high recording format but it seemed to work fine for me!) I bought this card called HAMA a year ago in Europe. Although the stickers says Class 2, I did a card check on the HMC and it says CLASS 6! How bizarre!

My point is, sometimes a sticker on an SDHC card tell a lie too. :)

Well, I'm sure there're reliable brandless or not-so-branded stuff for many things, just that people are usually skeptical about them...
But the percentage of them may be so small that you'll end up buying the unreliable versions...
So I guess it's up to individuals, some swear by brands, which often means reliability...
Unfortunately for the brandless market, one has to pretty much depend on luck...

On a different note, please let me b|tch about an incident that happened yesterday...
I was at Cathay Photo Peninsula with the intention of inquiring about the Manfrotto 561BHDV fluid base monopod...
They have the older model 561B displayed in their store, but that's not what I want...
I approached a salesperson to inquire about 561BHDV and unsurprisingly, I was shown the 561B...
I told him there's a newer version which has the HDV alphabets and a 701 head as well...
So he approached a female colleague of his and she too claimed that the 561B that they have in store is the HDV version...
I was a little fuming then and asked them to check their Manfrotto catalogue, which happened to be an older version featuring 561B... *Faint*
After a few phonecalls and frantic referral to their bible of pricelists (which always annoys me), they concluded that the 561BHDV is not being brought in...

The whole process really ticked me off...
Being the distributor, this is the kind of service they provide for product inquiries?
Without the wonders of the internet, I could've been tricked into buying the 561B, their so-called HDV model...
Is there anywhere else in Singapore that I can find Manfrotto products cause I'm quite hesitant to step into Cathay Photo again...

Bitching is good ...hah ha. Now my turn.

Worst is when a salesman only know how to say "This is better than that one and this one has better quality... " then they cook up more story. They don't know their product well but know how to con people. There's also a culture of small shops selling so many different things that they got lost in it.

That's how things are I guess. I even encountered poor service from a pharmacist who was suppose to know her drugs better than I do. Can thrash her poly diploma away... waste of time studying... haha

BTW Roy I have the 560B. Used for compact HD cam and camera.
I think the one you are looking for is close to SGD 600.
Sure you need such an expensive monopod?

So it's just a buy-and-go kinda thing for Cathay Photo isn't it?
Their things aren't exactly cheap/competitive anyway, just that they do sell numerous brands of products...

Oh, I thought you have the 560B/562B, I can't remember which, but it's the one without the head...
Cause I remember you saying if you wanna tilt, you have to actually tilt the monopod forward/backwards...

Anyway, I'm open to buying a 2nd hand, but nobody's selling the model I want...

Correction ...I'm rocking like a rock star going forwards and backwards on the 560B. :)
