the irony is that our new distributor loves to link our clubsnap threads in their facebook.. they should already been reading what we are saying

Its a good thing in a way.
That means they know what we are saying/feeling.

Its not easy to engage us though.
Why commit and risk us asking for the sky?

Lets see how it pans out.

Fyi just found out at OP that k30 + da 50f1.8 cost 1219 while the da 50 alone is 318 for those interested and upstart

Sounds like a good price.
DPR and IR reviewed the K30 and gave pretty fair reviews (esp. IR)
Video aside, its probably THE BEST aps-c entry/mid dslr at this price.

i called up tk, confirmed the price 975 before newspaper cutting. the guy said apd told them must bring newpaper cutting, not any how print from computer. but who would have the today newspaper cutting any way? today used to be delivered free to a lot of households sometime ago. but now, you have to take it from dun-nowhere. the offer is insincere, at most half-hearted.
i was planning to get k30 for my son, but not that keen any more after all these gimicky promos from apd.
pity, nowadays people dun no how biz is done to get more biz.

well that true some areas dont have today copy , lucky i have a copy of yesterday copy , so pass to my friend who wanted to buy the k30 , but didnt know i didnt have to go too much of the trouble to get the coupons , as the store owner of sgcamerastore already have a few copys of today copys stand by incase customer was unable to get the today copy .

i'm not a fan-boy or an apd employee... just an average consumer who supports the brand and maybe appreciates that the distri is just starting out from a possibly difficult handover and now faces the challenge of having to formulate an effective strategy to meet its target, make a profit and engage its customers.

to be fair, under the previous distri, there were also complaints abt poor availability of certain equipment, poor turnaround time for repairs, lack of response for enquiries, poor service attitude.

now, with the distri barely 6mths into the handover, there are complaints that "unlike the previous distri", there are no demo sets for users to molest during outing, very slow to get new models and "gimmicky" promotions.

maybe we should just keep an open mind and see how things unfold? they seem to be in it for the long-term, having held the distributorship for sigma and ricoh for years already.

its certainly not gonna help the situation for this forum to develop a strong anti-apd bias... i mean... what's the point? we like the brand, we like the cameras, so why can't we just cut apd some slack? they haven't exactly screwed up or screwed over anyone big time yet right?

and imagine how this looks to any new user looking to buy a pentax camera - we must be so messed up if we keep using the brand when the local distri is so fugged up right?

Give APD sometime to get to know the Pentax community. I believe they visit this forum if not they would not have tag the outings on their FB. Maybe after gaining some trust, maybe the seniors here will get to review the upcoming products from Pentax. Can't be just got to know the person for 1 hour and you ask the person to lent you 10K. Will you do that if you are in that person's shoes?

If apd reads this forum, they shld clarify the confusion with their distributors, and beter still clarif in this forum for all the pentaxians.

It's one thing to qualify your statement by pleading to be an average consumer and professing to be fair but at the same time listing out the previous distributor's shortcomings. If you're asking for apd to be cut some slack, by the same token, shouldn't you also apply that standard to the previous distri and cut them some slack... unless of course you must have been on the receiving end of the supposed shoddy service that you have taken pains to highlight. What's the point? We all like the brand and we like the cameras, right?

We are not here to anti-this, anti_that, just a bunch of aunties and uncles and keke's , cheche's and meimei's and titi's here to do our parts to feedback our thots on what could be done better. If everyone just bochap, what community are we talking about? For one thing, when someone comments on something which he's not experiencing it himelf(like he doesn't need a k30) then I wld not think much of him unless he also has the same or similar experience then his comments are more relavant. I commnted on this comment not because i think of much it, but because I care about pentaxians not getting good service and there shld not be any excuse for us to keep the feedback to oursleves even though the previous agent might not have done a good job.

another thing: DON'T equate the brand to its agent. just like don't equate a nation with its ruling party. not trying to be political here, but just trying to make sense of why we comment on the service of the agent.

Well, at least we can see that APD wasn't really quiet during the handover month. Obviously they've been trying to push Pentax products into most major camera shops, which Emjay failed to do. It's good to see Pentax cameras/lenses in shops like Cathay Photos again. I bought my DA16-45 (twice) and Pentax 540 flash there. Still like to go there buying accessories, but never bought any Pentax from them in the past three years 'cause Pentax were pretty much non-exist there. Same goes to some other shops.

As users, sometimes we just ask for too much I guess :) We were pretty lucky to be early adopters in the past three years, but waiting for a month or two isn't a big deal, maybe it's even a good thing 'cause we can sit here and watch/read any problems in the newly released products?

Let's give APD the credit for expending the availability of Pentax cameras and lenses in local shops. If their prices and service can back up this, we'd see even better days.

Yeah, aslo be fair that it is not just about changing distributor but also the owner. Pentax was Pentax but it is now under Ricoh. I believe the Pentax-Ricoh would also take time to sync the operation. At least for now we can see that the product would be made available through more shops in SG and the pricing is also quite attractive with reference to the K30 at $875 (after $100 rebate)
